Bought in this morning at SP 2388 for a trade.
Possibly a little prematurely!
ADM SP has seen a circa -36% drop in SP from Aug 21 (SP 3700) to Today May 22 (SP 2388).
This has reset the SP back to the bottom of a long term (circa 10 year) rising channel.
Hopefully it will remain it that channel for the trade.
Check your charts and DYOR.
Agreed Gavster,
I was anticipating the SP to be in the high 280's by now with an exit from my trade.
I'm in at SP 250, so can't grumble too much with a current divi yield of over 8%.
Looks like I'll collect divi and if the SP drops low enough ex-divi may well double up my holding for another round!
Strange days indeed.
steve,
I'm a technical analysis (TA) based trader, not a long term holder, of shares.
I sleep easier that way at night.
If I can turn regular 5 - 10% ROI trades I'm happy (yes, I know inflation is creeping up!)
I trade because I enjoy TA, not because I need to (I have a day job that pays the bills)
and churned over enough trades to buy a new property last year (profits now locked in bricks and mortar).
We all have to find a tactic and strategy that works for us and makes us money (and happy!).
Goodluck my friend.
Meoryo:
There are no safe investments in the stock market.
To say otherwise is naive and misleading.
Investing in the stock market is a risk based analysis process.
Some you will win, some you will lose.
But it is never safe.
My SP target auto sell kicked in this morning at SP 256.
In at 230 out at 256.
ROI after costs circa 9.8%.
Happy with that,
also sold AV. today as well,
just need DLG to pull its socks up!
GLA
Looks oversold to me, so bought a block to trade this morning at 230
At that SP the divi yield is circa 7.5%
Happy to trade or hold for divi at that price
MarkGo,
keep in mind that whether we are chartists, doomsters (I'll be correct eventaully !!!) , buy and holders, long termers, short termers, or just random traders etc etc,
we all linked by the same shared intention and goal,
that being to make money and turn a profit.
Whichever strategy my fellow LSE posters employ,
hopefully 2022 will be a good financial year for you all.
Tacet, happy new year.
Its good to see you're still active, I look forward to any TA you may post.
Your previous TA guidance and insight helped me have a very good 18 months or so of profitable trading.
Thanks.
A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.
Special thanks to those who been here since March 2020 and introduced me to technical analysis.
Thanks to their encouragement and advice on TA I was able to trade up enough money to buy a new property this week.
A great end to the year for me, and a humble brag I know, but it shows that its possible to beat the casino of the stock market occasionally.
Cheers everyone.
SP finally looking beter now with ex-divi getting closer.
But, andsforth's post link is very worrying.
New Zealand to ban cigarettes for future generations.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-59589775
Quote from link/new report:
"Anyone born after 2008 will not be able to buy cigarettes or tobacco products in their lifetime, under a law expected to be enacted next year."
Note the "in their lifetime"
i.e. that they will never be allowed to legally purchase to tobacco.
Could be tough times ahead.
