Hopefully this sentiment will trickle down to the juniors soon, god knows they will all be needed.

300 gWh of battery capacity per year is now planned for just Europe.
A quick google search of how much LCE is in a kWh of a lithium ion battery tells me approximately 425g to 2.2 kgs per kWh!

So 1 gWh equals 1,000,000 kwh, and Europe needs 300 gWh by roughly 2024, Europe will need between 127,500,000 to 660,000,000 kg of lce, or 127,500 to 660,000 tonnes?
Is that correct?
And by the way battery energy densities are increasing, I presume that means more lithium per kWh? So is the higher number completely feasible?
And thats just European planned factories. I imagine the Asian and American markets will dwarf that number.

My hope is that an updated plan comes out once the Gangfeng engineers have reviewed the situation. That will increase the shareprice by taking uncertainty out the situation, then hopefully we can raise tons of cash at a fair price an build a huge plant from the get go.

Surely his job is the long term security of this company, as in the next 10 year plus, not short term price movement?
From my experience, loud mouth ceo’s do more harm than good in the long term. All it does is create short term spikes. The long term outcome is still the same.
The problem is, with this stock, and any other lithium related stock, is we have all invested too early. At some point they have to all explode. The constant reports coming out from VW, Ford, Tesla, and any other car manufacturer all point to this.
Unfortunately, the lowly BCN shareprice is shared by many other lithium stocks.

What about the extra money being needed to build a bigger plant at Sonora? Instead of 17.5k, straight to 35k ton a year, or maybe even bigger.
The numbers of ev’s that the likes of Volkswagen a planning on building over the next decade would suggest that it is needed.
But yes, typical of this company to not communicate! I hope for an update over the next month on what the final plans are now Gangfeng are fully on board. They haven't got long to review it all, and I can’t believe their engineers haven’t been on site for the last few months reviewing the situation.

Exciting times. I cant see Gangfeng letting this project just sit there. They will want to be up to full production asap.

It would obviously be nice to have the share price a lot higher now, but I have always been in this for the long game. I plan to stay invested right through the 20’s, so Addicckts forecast is right on the money for me. So glad Gangfeng have got their foot in the door, than some oil company buying us out.

Its one thing having a negative stance, its another thing coming onto a board loling, and ramping another share because it has gone up 3% on a few grands worth of trades, then making out that the decision to invest in bcn or emh is a binary one. The two companies have absolutely nothing in common. Are you on the prem, kod and any other lithium boards loling at their shareholders?
The only common denominator is the affiliation with kdnc (time will tell if emh bod will benefit from having them on board will be good). Thank god they only own a fraction of bcn now.
Emh will maybe produce a hydroxide from hard rock, and depending on the tin price, be viable or not.
Bcn will produce a carbonate from soft rock and clay. Oh, and by the way, lithium hydroxide can be made from carbonate. And given how cheaply bcn can produce, we can still probably make it if the market demands it.

I also remember a very underwhelming feasibility study coming out a few years ago, which caused the shareprice to tank, from which it has never recovered. That was certainly a poor decision made by the bod. I think it had something to do with the tin price falling, so they didn’t include half the mine as it wasnt economically viable to produce lithium from it.
Think I will stick it out over here, where we dont have to rely on other “byproducts” to produce high grade lithium products.

Lawrence. Emh havent made any major decisions yet, because their hands have been tied by the political situation of the country. It will be interesting to see where the money comes from to build their mine. Have they even managed to build a pilot plant yet? Have they sent continuous samples off to battery manufacturers? Genuinely interested, I hope EMH goes well, there is certainly room for another mine in the world.
Not quite sure why you have come on here bashing bcn. Maybe because the emh board is full of drivel about no sellers left until 30p? As the shareprice continues to drop.
Emh was up 3% on about £3 grands worth of share purchases. Hardly a stampede of buyers. It will just as easily drop on a few sells.

Yes, it s sad. It looks like they will be pricing out western companies when it comes to building the mine in sonora. In the big picture, its not good, but hopefully good for Bacanora as a company as it is going to cost significantly less to build the mine.
You only have to look on Alibaba or Made in china to see how cheaply you can buy goods.

Also, Gangfeng have publicly stated that they have no interest in taking over other lithium companies. They want to work with existing ones.
There is no evidence that they have destroyed any other companies, then bought them on the cheap, quite the opposite in fact. They want to be the biggest lithium producer in the world.
If they screw us over, then the next company isn't going to be interested in doing business with them.
I am looking forward to some updated engineering plans and time tables.

I know of kdnc and emh, shafted by both of them. Not sure about the others. BCN is the one Mr Cautious is talking about being millimetres away from financing. But the share price tanked in a similar way to here when they pulled their financing strategy due “market conditions”. They now have a strategic partner, who bought in at a bargain price, but the share price has risen 400% since the lows.

As slow as he is, this project is advancing better than most. The amount of people who posted giving their reasons why emh or savannah resource’s were a better bet. Both companies seem to be going nowhere fast.
After reading the minutes from the gangfeng board meeting I see no reason why the last part of the approval will not be granted, then I expect the start of some really positive newsflow. Hopefully one of them being that production will be ramped up to 35,000 tons very quickly, with even bigger capacity soon to be announced.
The articles around lithium seem a bit more positive. Now Vw are serious about the ev market, there is no stoping the growth in lithium.

It looks like they are the finished batteries, or the cathodes at least. Nickel cobalt manganease (or ncm).
Rising battery prices has to be a good thing? Surely that means big demand for cells, meaning the materials that make them are more in demand?
99.5% lithium carbonate down 18.59% over the year. I think that may reverse over the course of the year.
