That last line sounds like a typical politicians answer to me. I dont know anything about it, it was the last government.
Been having a dig through twitter. Search mexico lithium. There is a lot of stuff been posted recently. The president has said, as far as I can tell, that no new concessions have been granted for lithium, but he cant be sure that ones have been granted by the previous government. I wouod say the fuss is been made by the fact the Chinese are there, through us. As long as they dont take our concessions away from us, I would say this is going to put further pressure on lithium supply and be good for BCN. Don't we own the land we are going to mine?
The Ministry of Economy already has a plan to exploit the lithium deposit located in Sonora, said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
He said that so far no new concessions have been given to the private initiative and that the issue is being reviewed because they were used to speculate, which has almost ruled out that the lithium deposit is concessioned.
He denied that a Chinese company has benefited from a concession to exploit it, although he said he has no information about it being handed over by the past government.

Letting it move a bit now though. 37p paid
Its not just the small trades. They keep moving the mid price about, sometimes up to 35.90, then back down to 34.60 as it is now. Other than yesterday when the bid moved up, they seem to be messing about with the share price, while the bid and ask stay the same.
Possibly to do with Gangfeng?
I did just that, and my money out of kdnc at the same time. Problem is I did it when Bcn was in the 80’s, so don’t follow me!
A lot has happened since then though. And to me BCN is in a much stronger position than it was at in 2018. And the share price is now less than half what it was.
Anybody got any idea why so many small trades over the last few days. And now 40 or so, all executed within seconds of each other?

Nice article about lithium in. Exico. Sonora and BCN been the main topic.
And also, Tesla or more its ceo Elon Musk, whom I am sure nees no introduction, has a habit of coming into sectors and making them work quite well for him. Space x, Tesla and remember he does also have The Boring Company, so he does have some experience with digging holes.
He will probably come into some lithium mine and half the cost of production, then everyone will wonder why it wasn’t always done that way!
To be fair, when the deal was signed in 2015, it was sold to Tesla at a similar market value to what it was generally been sold for. I think around $6000 a ton. I think lenigas was so keen to sign a deal, that he didnt do what everybody else seems to do, and guarantee a certain amount over a say 10 year period, but its sold at market rates at the time.
The lithium price boomed soon after the deal was struck, and it became apparent just how little experience rem executives had.
Anyway, hopefully those days are well behind us and BCN look to be signing up far better deals, with a much longer timeframe in mind, not just for a short term price spike so they can get a placing away!
Amazed at the figure of Chile only managing to produce 16000 tons a year? It really does show what a huge operation Sonora is going to be when it can produce 17500 tons from phase one operations. Am I reading that right?
Do you mean this one?

Not long to wait now
It could. Just look At Gangfengs latest deal with BMW to supply them with Lithium. The tide is turning.
Moving back up now. Was that the definition of a “tree shake”?
Looks like a more technical analysis than mine below!
Looking strong. Hopefully we have a mirror image of the charts going on! If that is such a thing. Down to 30 from 1.50, back up to 50, down to 12, back up to 50, back down to 30 ish, next leg back up to 1.50? Is that too simple!
Howard Kleins “league table” of lithium companies. From producers down to early explorers.
I like his notes on Bacanora. “The best, the first. The soft rock/clay to watch.

Maths!
If you count everything under the bonnet of an ev there are more than 20 parts. If Lawrence is breaking a sparkplug down into individual components, then you had better break down an inverter into all its components as a fair comparison. I bet the printed circuit board in that will have a thousand different components alone. Then you have the charger, another few thousand components in that as well. The battery pack and all the cells and the BMS. What about breaking the cells down into their individual components. You could go on and on!
Mr cautious is right. You just have to look at the main components. And that article Lawrence referred to said 2000 parts!
The point is though, we all know an electric motor and its single speed gearbox is far less complex than an internal combustion engine, with its 5-6-7 speed gearbox and associated clutch and everything else that Requires it to work. As a modern mode of transport, they are finished. There is just no way they can compete with an ev drivetrain, especially once batteries come down in price. We haven't even started mass production yet, and they are already far cheaper if you factor in the total running costs over the life of the car.
ICE will continue to be used, because they are engineering master pieces, and people will always want the sound, smell and nature of them. But they will be used in the same way the horse is now. For pleasure, not nipping to the local shop in!
