Excellent day for oil but we only rise by a few coppers. And, after a good RNS yesterday. You have to wonder why this hasn't broken above �5 by now. My guess is that the shorters are desperately trying to keep this back. But, for how long can they continue to do this, particularly as the divi date gets ever closer?

That's over $700M worth of contracts announced in 7 days. Big 19p divi getting closer by the day. North sea asset sale announcement due anytime. Oil holding up well. Good bidding discipline and hence good margins. What's not to like??? Over �5.25 by end of week IMO.

Some nice BIG buys just before 5pm.

Strange how oilers and oil stocks are all down today, yet PFC are holding steady. Something going on here behind the scenes me thinks. Someones in the know.

Mark, I 100% agree that SFO not the main concern anymore (at least for me). It's the forward order book. The global economy is growing well now (evidenced by last weeks much better than expected US jobs figures) so this means continuing strong demand for Oil. So I'm not even worried about the PoO either. It's the damm order book. Sorry, don't have the specifics about the current bidding activity as he didn't go into more detail other than to mention the value range. It may be buried on their website somewhere though??

If you watch the recent investor presentation, Asfari is clearly asked about the current bids that they are tendering on. He answers that there are several bids currently in and that they range in value from a few hundred million to 5 billion in value. We just need to land one of those big ones and �6 will be a distant memory. Could happen at any time. Petrofac have a bit of form releasing consecutive RNS's.

Desperately needed here is a juicy contract RNS to not only consolidate recent gains but to push past the psychologically important �5 mark and give impetus to the stock. This will also re-assure the market about the health of the pipeline. Come on PFC, give us some good news. Our collective tongues are hanging out desperate for it!!!

Big punt at 16:53 - some geezer has pumped in �168 grand at 473p. You just don't do that for nothing.

This company is financially sound and could easily absorb any SFO fine that may be coming over a period of a few years. That's if there IS a fine! It's priced in anyhow and then some. I'd be more worried if debt was rising and cashflow problems which isn't the case here. In fact debt is falling and cashflow remains strong with healthy, competitive bidding activity on major projects.

Dangerous game as I'm expecting a contract RNS to drop anytime soon. We are well overdue one and Asfari hinted at the investor presentation that he expects awards in the next few weeks. He had a big smile on his face when he said that. I think PFC are beginning to get their mojo back again after that disastrous RNS of a few weeks ago. I expect to see more shorts reducing too.

Retour, I too am becoming a little concerned about a lack of contract RNS here. Although Asfari did say at the presentation last week that he is expecting contract news/awards in the coming weeks. With contract news I think �5 will be breached again and become new support level going forward. Lets not forget this was �5.88 and rising a few weeks ago. Also, don't be surprised if a rabbit is pulled out of the hat taking the market by surprise in terms of SFO update. Asfari resuming full executive duties is telling IMO.
