Biffbaffboff- according to Barclays (as opposed to me!), the next Resistance points are at just below £2.38 and then just below £2.52 Current Trading Resistance is at £2.27 which makes sense, as we are finding it hard to get past this point - and stay past it. ATB

It's right on the cusp now and trying really hard to push through the £2.26 barrier. . . . be interesting to see where it closes. Either way, we cannot go wrong, as this has recovered super-fast since its retrace. The wider Market is clearly very well disposed, towards Rolls Royce. . . . All Good

While the stock has fallen by nearly a tenth in the past month, Barclays pointed out that this ‘presents a buying opportunity’. Shares, which have more than doubled in value this year, rose 6.6 per cent, or 13.4p, to 215.4p". END

Janewawoz I 100% agree. I have been super-bullish here from the get-go and at no point, EVER, have I had any concerns. Of course there was going to be a retrace; that's what shares do. BUT it never caused me any sleepless nights either. RR should be in everyone's portfolio, in my opinion. November will be a stellar month. . . .

Banks usually rake in profits when interest rates are high – so the theory goes – as customers are forced to pay more for mortgages and loans. The Bank of England’s brutal interest rate hiking cycle over the past two years has been something of a cash cow for UK lenders but the party looks to be well and truly over. Savers have become savvier and are moving their cash into accounts with higher returns. Major banks warned this week that profit margins have been hit by consumers shopping around.Net interest margins (NIM) – a key measure of profitability that calculates the difference between what banks earn from loans and what they pay out to savers – have come under pressure in the latest round of quarterly results. Barclays and Natwest both slashed their full-year NIM outlooks. Britain’s biggest mortgage provider Lloyds held off but said its NIM had shrunk in the third quarter.

It comes as high street lenders faced political pressure to offer fairer rates to savers amid accusations of profiteering after mortgage costs shot up faster than the amount paid out on deposits.

Matt Britzman, equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown said: ‘Consumers are no longer happy to park their cash in low-rate current accounts and are going shopping for higher yields – all of which are a hit to banking profit margins and deposit levels.’

The free market does do its job every now and then, and with better returns to be found elsewhere, the NIM bonanza appears to be at an end. END

Exactly SUFCESSEX! I am getting 6.05% with Close Brothers and already only have 10 months left on it. Lloyds has become a pure Income play in my opinion; it's only 'investable' for its Dividend these days. BUT - even that looks a bit lame, with the kinds of returns you can now get, with zero risk, in a variety of different Savings/Bond Accounts. Bonkers and it's killing me, as I have a huge number of the worthless pieces of junk!!

Hardup sadly it's 'sentiment'. Banks are just totally out of vogue and have been for over a decade. PLUS with easy access accounts now paying 4.75% or 6% for a one year Bond, nobody is bothering with the Stock Market. It's just not worth the risk in this day and age, with the world in such a parlous state.

And show significant gains on last year; so maybe the 'Bank Bashing' might stop now? Can't do any harm and hopefully, sentiment will improve now and these ridiculously low valuations be re-rated? Let's hope that we can see this week out, in positive territory. ATB

Not sure if it has been noted here (apologies if it has been), but on 31st October the cap on bankers bonuses is to be lifted. It will be interesting to see how that pans out going forwards. . .

Personally, given yesterdays sell-off, I am expecting a modest rise today. We got bashed around yesterday, so I consider the Lloyds mauling duly complete! Plus, unlike Barclays, we do not have a poorly performing Investment arm . Call me crazy, but I see a small rise myself.

Overall a good set of results. However, there is always a 'but'! A few little nasties in there like increased cots, lower deposits and a pretty chunky impairment. That said, given the current UK (and wider) headwinds, they're a good looking set of results. . . Fingers crossed and good luck all.

Problem for Lloyds is that it has become a vanilla 'income play', paying a chunky dividend. However, when I can get (as I am) 6.2% with Close Brothers; to only have to lock my money away for 12 months, then why would one invest here!? Sadly, I have been 'invested' here 12 years :( and I'm still down!! This is going nowhere any time soon, with 50p, in my opinion (given the dodgy UK scenario and general global geo-politics etc), looking a very tall order...... ATB

Absolutely agree Kingalf. This is AIM. It's the Wild West of Stock Markets and is not well known for attracting longer-term 'sticky' investors. Many got burned on the spike here and left, as you say. 100% normal for an AIM listed stock. Annoying yes, but that's just how it goes. No place for 'logic' on this Market!! Very likely to fall further too, as it's a very 'news thirsty' industry this one. . . . . ATB :)

Good post CJ39. Throw into that mix this being an AIM listed stock which, much more often than not, defies 'logic'. It also suffers from a lack of 'sticky investors'. It attracts, like any Casino does, short term chancers, who will dip in ant out swiftly, thus creating extreme volatility. I'm invested here myself, but have a lot of experience on AIM so it does not worry me. For others however, panic can set in very quickly, so it becomes a bit of a viscious cycle! OBD will be fine long term, but expect BIG swings and don't expect 'logic' to play a part!! That way you stay sane!! ATB
