From memory the oil column at Halifax was 1,150m in length and they still had not reached the bottom of the oil column or found OWC when they stopped the drilling and pulled the rig off, that's how I remember it.

You must also think that the oil is going to be in production for quite a number of years therefore getting a short term loan might be better than giving 1/2 the field away as 2P reserves should be quite substantial in a short period of time, also a buyer might not want a partner or at least a partner of choice and quite possibly a higher SP for Hur shareholders.

I suppose it is also possible for the company to get an RBL rather than keep on bringing in partners and thereby further dilution.
