EDL21 Dec 2018 13:38
I am only recently invested in EDL and I greatly sympathise with the investors who have seen their investments fall in the past year fom .56p to the current low. And I know there are many who have held for a couple of years and seen much greater falls.
Nevertheless I have decided to build a stake here because I believe the company, Edenville, is making progress. Among the positives I view the following :
1 EDL is now producing and selling coal. It has current contracts for around 10000 tons and it is negotiating for more.
2 It has an important MOU with Synohydro which was, relatively recently, renewed. I doubt that Synohydro would have done that if they viewed EDL as a dead duck.
3. Edl has tendered for a part in the proposed power plant and Tanesco has accepted that proposal. Like Sausage I'd be interested to know how many others tendered.
4 From an investment point of view the sp is very very low and for a new investor here it represents a good risk, I think.
5.The company is very spare in terms of management. Neither JM or RS is a good communicator but that doesn't make either very different to the majority of AIM directors.
6. It is noticable that over 50% of the shares are held in institutional nominee accounts. All were bought at much higher prices than the current SP but none have been sold recently, as far as we know. And those investors know more than we do.
Now for the down side!
1. Edl is painfully short of funding. That doesn't make it much different to the majority of AIM companies. It does have acces to the Lind funds but they look expensive. The Sp is now so low that it would be difficult to manage a placing so any future funding needs to come from a believer like Synohydro(?) who won't want to see it fail.
2 EDL operates in a difficult environment. It is prohibited from importing very much skilled mining personnel. They have only one such at present. I make no judgement about the correctness of that government decision but it does complicate things for EDL.
Ultimately on a risk reward basis I think EDL merits an investment, so that is what I am doing. I'm prepared to lose my investment-all of it- but I do not expect to do so. I think we may soon get just one piece of good news on finance, production or bigger contracts or new personnel forced upon us by the big investors and we could see an end to the shorting,(rightly or wrongly i believe there is some), and we could see a mega leap forward. I hope so!!
