As someone who in the last few weeks switched to Aldi from Tesco, after shopping overwhelmingly with Tesco for well over a decade, I can assure you Aldi is a lot cheaper. Many of the products are comparable in quality. I tend to buy free range, or higher welfare meat for example, and quality more or less the same. It Some things we still get from Tesco as def better, or Aldi don't sell, but our switch is saving us (Family of 4, two young kids) approx. £40 a week.
For the record, I am not invested in Tesco but have just put them on my watch list as I think they could well recover. We'll see
