As I said before there is certainly a correlation between companies that have gone up in value and companies that want to split their stock into smaller nominal values. This is universally understood. It is never the case that a stock split will result in a changed market capitalisation. It is also never the case that a reverse stock split or consolidation will result in a changed market capitalisation. The market cap remains the same just the number of shares that the market cap is divided by changes.

No, that's not true at all.

Yeah it's really similar to when a country knocks a few zeroes off their currency - it doesn't affect anything at all of course and certainly doesn't make the currency worth less. But it only happens to currencies (and countries) that are doing really poorly. Correlation not causation. And there's no way it'll happen with Quadrise, there's no reason for it to happen.

So a stock split usually happens in the US when the share price gets so high it excludes people from purchasing even one share (cf Berkshire Hathaway class A shares). A reverse stock split in the UK may happen to make a low price look better (from 0.001p to 0.1p for example). This will absolutely coincide with companies doing poorly but also absolutely does not cause them to do poorly. A stock split similarly coincides with a company having done very well but also doesn't cause the good performance.

Hi DPExplorer - a question: how have share consolidations (reverse stock splits) bitten you in the past? Consolidations or stock splits are relatively benign and shouldn't dramatically effect the share price.
