Well, I'd have given an explanation but there was an assertion presented without evidence which never ever deserves one.

No it wasn't.

AIS is free and mandatory beyond a certain size. I have it. It pings your information when you get close enough to other vessels. Thanks why AIS is useless on the high seas. But when it's tragfficky now, you get pinged constantly so your positional resolution is super high.

Coming up on the coast of Oman and entering such busy shipping lanes, AIS pings will be about as accurate as satellite until we dock at Abu Dhabi. Not long now.

Just got an AIS ping for Leandra. Just off the coast of Somalia, north of Mogadishu and cruising at 12.5kts
