Heid, regarding Wressle re the clueless councillors - all the Labour councillors were affiliated to trade unions who stated it was a duty of members to oppose any oil or gas fracking application. As the EA had described the proppant squeeze as a 'small-scale frac', they were obliged (like headless chickens) to repeatedly oppose the application.
However, there was a small Tory majority on the planning committee, and a couple of them (who were clearly in the wrong party or simply selfish nimbies), agreed with their Labour comrades.
Hopefully, having been fined a significant sum for completely disregarding government planning guidelines, the planning committee will make more sensible decisions in future.
