So, it's official I may make some good investstments but I'm a terrible trader. I broke two of my golden rules this morning - never set a stop loss and never trade in the first 30 minutes! It cost me 2,500 shares this morning and since taking a holding in Avacta I've lost 5,000 shares attempting to trade in the day. I hold 150,000 now and I first bought in at 20p so not too worried but it just goes to show, the money here is in holding, not trading!
I found the sudden drop to just below my stop loss, trigger of the trade and immediate rise back up very suspicious to say the least!

Ah well, 5K to validate something I already believed in wasn't too expensive a lesson I guess!

I agree Mr B, but if they plan to announce anything during the analyst briefing it will need to be RNS'd at the same time at least.
WRT to Cytiva they are bound by SEC rules so an RNS does not apply to them.

Its not true that they are obliged to release news as soon as it materialises, but they have to release it to everyone at the same time to avoid insider trading, hence an RNS. They could very well be sitting on highly sensitive information that is very confidential until the point it is deemed best for the company to release it. This is a prime example, and exactly why material information is likely to be released before a major update meeting.

Yeah I agree, there would be no material need to release an RNS on actual transfer of affimers, this is just an operational detail. The need will come with Cytiva confirming they are ready to go to testing, then approval, then incoming orders. It's like a software company releasing an RNS when a new version that intgrates with another vendor is about to go to beta, we just wouldn't do it.

I agree, but to be honest these are very unusual times and the meteoric rise of the SP at GDR really caught them out, I imagine advise had to be sought before releasing the placing RNS as a result of yesterday's performance.
I also hold at GDR, no where near what I hold here, but I will continue to hold. I don't look forward to the same "vote no, SP will drop when the shares hit the market, board are rubbish" type banter over on the GDR board for the next few weeks. It wasn't fun here and will be painful.
That said, there is still mileage in GDR, in fact more so than ever now there has been a correction. Like with AVCT that placing will be priced in on announcement, depsite what the derampers will say.
I will be selling my GDR position once this bump is out of the way and investing it in AVCT, far better prospects and a much more 'mature' go to market position.
