They won't even pay it, so to speak. Let's say on the day they decide to exercise the share price is at 194p, they exercise the option and the shares are admitted for trading or, as is usually the case, the corporate broker has a buyer lined up and they never even hit the market, they basically buy and sell in the same transaction and they receive 100p per share, less fees. No one in their right mind would exercise until the price has doubled, and then they should only exercise a portion of the shares.
