FORVIA announces the successful award of a major new program in Europe for its
advanced Inside Rear-View Mirror system integrating an Occupant and Driver
Monitoring System camera. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the
company’s growth in intelligent interior sensing technologies.
• FORVIA Clarion Electronics announces a major contract in Europe for its mirror-integrated
driver and occupant monitoring system, reinforcing its leadership in advanced in-cabin
sensing technologies.
• The solution delivers real-time monitoring of driver attention, drowsiness, and occupant
presence, enhancing vehicle safety and user awareness.
• Production will be based in Europe, supporting the rollout of stricter safety regulations
and underscoring FORVIA’s commitment to compliance and local industrial footprint.
The awarded program reinforces FORVIA’s position as a key player in next-generation in-cabin
safety systems. The solution combines a traditional interior mirror with a seamlessly integrated
camera, designed to monitor both driver behavior and cabin activity in real time.
This intelligent system enables the detection of driver attention levels, drowsiness, and
distraction, while also assessing passenger occupancy. By enhancing situational awareness inside
the vehicle, it contributes to improved overall safety and supports the evolution toward more
autonomous driving experiences.
Production of this new program will be carried out at the company’s European manufacturing
facility, with a start of production scheduled for June 2029. The award represents a significant
step forward in expanding FORVIA’s portfolio of smart interior solutions and strengthening its
industrial footprint.
The project also aligns with the ongoing evolution of regulatory requirements in Europe, where
advanced driver monitoring technologies are becoming increasingly essential. These systems are
designed to support compliance with safety regulations that mandate driver attention and
drowsiness detection, as well as the future introduction of advanced distraction monitoring
capabilities.
“This new program underscores FORVIA’s ability to deliver cutting-edge in-cabin sensing solutions that
enhance safety and support the future of mobility. By combining advanced driver and occupant
monitoring technologies into a seamless system, we are addressing key industry challenges and
meeting evolving regulatory requirements while contributing to a safer and more intelligent driving
experience.” said Yves DUMOULIN, FORVIA Clarion Electronics Executive Vice-President.
With this new award, FORVIA continues to accelerate its innovation roadmap and reinforce its
commitment to safer, smarter mobility solutions.
