RE: Billion pound company8 Jun 2020 11:22
Old, I tend to agree with a lot of that and the challenge SM has always had is to keep the lights on until material auto revenues start flowing, with the recent cost cutting announced by PM we are pretty much there now.
So did we execute successfully?, short-term not really imo and thats the reason why we needed one more placing than what was planned, so its caused us some extra dilution.
Long-term execution I think has been top notch. Its worth remembering the story of our chip
1) 200-2016 - 15 years + of research
2) Sept 2016 - RNS to announce our automotive chip "leveraging over 15 years of innovation and industry experience the company is proud to announce the completion of the first phase of development of its folio chip"
3) June 2018 - RNS to announce our 1st DW for the chip with a US OEM "...with a global US-headquartered OEM. As a result of the design win, the Group expects to deliver its FOVIO driver monitoring technology into multiple vehicle platforms for mass production from 2020"
4) 25th June 2020 is our Ronseal moment, we said we would launch in 2020 in mass production , and we are launching in the best selling pickup in the world which is top selling light vehicle in the US and only behind the Toyota Corolla in worldwide sales. We did exactly what we said on the tin.
Mass market isn't 2 years away its 2 weeks away.
