This bit is golden, its about the other ADAS systems working better, being less annoying, this is what the clever people like JC, Lewbo, TLS, etc have been saying for years. Turns out they weren't crazy they were right.
"My automated emergency braking system, AEB, quite often gives me a beep and an alert telling me to brake at the very point at which I’m trying to navigate quite a difficult change of direction and things going on, and it thinks that there’s an imminent collision. And I know full well there’s no risk.
So this is really what driver monitoring has this bad rep of being ineffective. This is what even Tesla has said in the past. That they didn’t use it because it’s ineffective. But not only can you take the driver monitoring algorithms, if you put all of this human factor science behavioral research on top of it, it actually means that you can modify the sensitivity of the ADAS systems in real time and take away this annoying torrent of alerts. The key safety benefit is that so many people get so tired of these alerts they simply turn the system off. And all of the safety benefits that go with the systems are then lost entirely. So this is a real key factor for the future of making human drivers into safer drivers: the combination of driver monitoring with ADAS. These two systems, what I see going forward, is very, very tightly couple together. The intervention really for the ADAS can be modified based on how much attention the human driver is paying."
