Look at China - even in the filth and overcrowding, and the eating habits that will not change - the virus has already peaked and looks to be on the wane. It has either mutated in Europe (which I accept is a possibility) or China is now flat out lying (which I also accept as a possibility).

But as it stands, with what we know, the real damage here will be a massive over-reaction to what is still essentially just another flu. Or, if you prefer, a convenient excuse to usher in a New World Order...

Zoros, Spanish Flu was 1000 times worse than this. The hysteria was 1000 less (it was censored).

I'll wager if no one had ever mentioned there was something going around, no one outside of China or Italy would have noticed anything different from the season flu season.

Italy was the trigger for all the hype and hysteria because it is a corrupt, disorganised semi-3rd world state.

The deadliest virus going around at the moment is blind panic and knee jerk reactions. Isolation and lack of food (not to mention mental health issues) will probably kill more people in the UK than any virus.

KRSS Solgs gold is so far underground, and so physically and financially far away from ever being dug out at this moment that it might as well be on the Moon.

Gold is a safe haven only in "normal" bad times. When things are "really" bad it becomes just another metal. You can't eat it and you can't wipe your backside with it. That's why people on transport trains gave away gold rings in return for a loaf of bread or a sip of water.

Bitcoin is collapsing for the much the same reason.

At the moment, cash is king. You'll know when things are really bad - that's when your cash is no good.

Personally I don't believe this virus is that dangerous at all (to me anyway). But the self-inflicted damage to the world economy - almost done like a religious act to appease the gods, a great self flagellation with the emphasis on making everyone's life as miserable as possible without actually stopping the virus - is very real, and we are using a global sledgehammer to crack a small nut.

It reminds me of the 1665 plague - in order to look like they were doing something radical and effective, the authorities ordered the immediate killing of all the cats and dogs. You know. the cats and dogs that might have caught the rats that carried the infected fleas.

This is our killing of the cats and dogs - a wholesale destruction of the economy, an economy we really need in order to fight and survive this.

It's hysteria. Every time the Government announces a stricter, harsher edict - usually targetting the elderly - the crowd bays from the sidelines, like fanatics at a book burning.

Meanwhile over in Japan, they still think they will be inflicting the borefest that is the Olympics on us.

The whole planet has become a madhouse. God only knows when the real fever - this obsession with economic self destruction - will break and we start to see sense and rebuild.

God knows, if aliens with superior technology ever did land on this planet, they wouldn't ask to see our leaders, they would wipe us humans out for the greedy, thoughtless, destructive pestilence we are.

Take care of yourselves, because one narrative that is becoming clear is that the elderly are getting thrown under the bus in this pandemic.

Don't visit them, don't feed them, don't let them shop, don't let them out their house - but don't treat them, or take them to hospital or A+E or the GP, don't even dial 111.

Must be so many behind their doors, alone and frightened, seeing the scenes of young newcomers clearing the supermarket shelves, terrorised by the Daily Mail, wondering what has happened to this country and to the NHS which they built and paid for all their lives and which they thought they could rely upon - while Sky News simpers about a couple of rich young footballers getting the virus.

Well Bitcoin is a trendy crypto currency that relies heavily on their being a normal, functioning world out there for it to circumvent. That is fast disappearing. In the real world, people are grabbing at toilet paper, and dried pasta and rice - who knows if the Internet may go down in parts of the globe.

You can't eat Bitcoin. A few more weeks of this and all crypto currencies will be worthless. People will want cash in hand, or gold in hand, or barter goods in hand. I think, overall, hipsters, millennials and Gen Z types are in for a shock - especially when, in the weeks ahead, they find their "gentrified" parts of London aren't so gentrified anymore.

There is clearly a storm coming, and before we know it this former world - of froth, of Bitcoin, of living vicariously through Instagram - will begin to pass away.

If your kids are sent home from school, keep them at home.

Don't bother bringing them into the pub to run around daft while I'm trying to have a quiet pint.

Well an odd positive effect of pandemics is that many of the elderly do die, releasing their assets to the younger generation much sooner than would be otherwise, therefore economically, for the survivors there is often a financial benefit. At least that is before you do something stupid - like commit economic suicide like Italy.

Amazing to think, for something that has killed less than 5000 people, people and governments everywhere have gone out of their way to destroy their own economies, their way of life, their holidays, their businesses, their civil liberties, and economic progress for years to come. At least we've all learned one very valuable lesson out of this - it is racist to criticise people for shoving bats and live baby mice into their mouths. I now know I was wrong to feel repulsed by this. After all, if people want to eat things I consider weird because of my "privilege", what harm can it possibly do?

Bozi, genuinely, with respect, when you make comments like this: "Nick and his team's job is to manage the company, not the share price. " it does beg the question regarding the point addicknt made. Its a public limited company, it's not about the journey, or mining awards, or being popular with the natives - the name of the game is to increase the company value while not printing any new shares if possible. Share price (and of course in different circumstances a dividend) is what it is all about.

Did not buy in here (went all in for Lloyds yesterday morning) but glad to see the price recovering somewhat. i reckon 15p will be the new 20p for the foresseable future until some good news drops, but it should be good for trading once it stabilises.

As for this dreadful virus, I think panicky governments will make it far worse (see Italy) and we'd be better to ride it out. It is already out there, we are all probably going to get it, so the focus should be on treating those most at risk, not imprisoning whole populations and wrecking economies. Its the wave of fear that's doing the real damage, I suspect we will get used to the actuality when it fully hits (as we get used to anything eventually) and the markets will sharply recover. Till then I hope we all stay healthy and wealthy.
