The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Hopefully Andrew Bowie has a voice and some influence with his fellow policy makers.
Not something I have any idea about, but maybe some accounting / taxation genius could have a stab at an answer... With the number of oil and gas operators with uk interests who have said they are scaling back on projects etc etc, at some point the lost revenue that reduction equates to will overtake the extra revenue the windfall tax raises, not to mention the jobs and need to simply move to importing more energy from abroad. Wonder how long that could be. You'd think someone in government could make their fellow party members see the light and have a rethink.
That's a good shout Kraken, I feel your pain. It's all very well the government caving in to the gnashing of teeth and wailing from the media by deploying the "windfall tax"...perhaps there is a case for enq shareholders to pursue the government for any losses incurred by their actions. I'll need to google if there's a precedent. If so I'll be on the phone to claims direct lol. Joking aside. hopeful that things improve as oil price rises.
Hope your correct January, your post would appear to be supported by sound rationale . Hopefully logic prevails and we see some value returning to the sp going forward towards results in a few weeks time
Been a while since I was in a share where the usual Thursday would have a FOMO post... Hoping the rise continues as folk look at Friday or Monday being RNS day. Expecting some positive news come the ops update anyways so content. Some news on diversification into the renewable sector along with projects in non uk windfall tax waters would be nice.
Hi romaron, being from D&G postcode which is both a bastion of sensibility and unionism... I imagine the SNP will now implode as those who backed sturgeon begin to lose a bit of interest in things (unless the wheel out another that is well trained in interviews and deflection technique). I also imagine Anaw Anwar and Labour will once again become the main party in the place formerly known as Krankieland
About time... Just need enq sp to climb now and day is almost complete.
One thing recent history has told us that anything is possible and can happen. Imagine if someone had told you we'd all be stopped going in to shops, pubs, cafes, bars and our workplace, public transport closed and all travel abroad by plane grounded due to some virus. Yup... Anything is possible
Probably because just like the news at ten, they seem to prefer causing angst and rage with the public which inturn then gets aimed at the "bad tories"... Ironically I imagine lots of these enraged citizens will as you point out benefit from oil and gas profits via pensions, dividends and compared with some other countries... Actually not a bad place to live
24.45 with a week high of 24.95. That's what the t leaves are telling me.
Kinda dead?... Aye, if kinda dead = 5% approx rise this week with news still to come along wae update. No quite flatlined and the DNR being actioned.
Superb stuff...Exactly the kinda thing lots of posters have been talking about lately (along with lots of media commentators)... Build It They Will Come. Next update looks like it could be very, very interesting.
That's only about 4 weeks production needed to cover that at current prices. (not taking any costs into account) wouldnae be impossible.
Unable to copy the link to the story but have added the link to the oil price app where I seen it. Interesting article that shows there is some fightback against some misleading info / actions from the eco warrior types. Good to see not all the industry is prepared to roll over and get its belly tickled like a dog.. Onwards and Upwards.

How bizarre... They'll be handing back their dividends and any profits they've gained through sp growth in protest... You couldnae make it up.
That's a spanner in the works of the ban the internal combustion engine brigade.
You were correct to stop watching the rig series.. It was fechan awful.
Being Scottish I will agree with all your points romaron... Especially the one about being more clever. 100% a labour revival in scotland, down to a decent sounding Anas Anwar, a growing dislike of all things Sturgeon and the historical anti tory stuff who believe that all tory voters are millionaire tax dodgers.
How hard can it be, looks so simple... Government supports the oil & gas industry on the condition that apart from hydrocarbons they also use their technical knowhow and engineering skills to gradually transfer to producing renewable energy. Together combined with the huge amounts of tax collected by whichever government is in charge helping accelerate projects everyone would be on a winner.
