yes, the dream of living a worry free life by achieving total financial independence is everyone's dream. Not many achieve that as it's very difficult to get to that stage without considerable skill or indeed luck. The stock-market offer's the one route to financial independence (and indeed financial ruin) that other areas of life (employment, savings account, premium bonds, gambling on horses or sport etc) do not.
Therefore we invest not only cash but our hopes for the future and if our shares falter our dream of achieving our goal falters. That triggers regret, disappointment, aggression, resentment etc etc but we have no choice but to pursue our dreams using the stock-market as the conduit to achieve that as no other avenues exists that provides that opportunity
It's a poisoned chalice, to a degree so we use these forums to express our grievances. It isn't moaning when things go wrong, it's merely frustration. Rather that, than throwing yourself under a train
