Just sent them an email asking the usual questions about their view of Paterson, Havieron and their view on any possible future developments at Paterson and Telfer. They usually reply. Well, that was Mariana

It's the one thing I never do. I never pry into the motives or reasoning behind what posters post on these boards. If I find someone tedious or annoying then I don't moan about it ffs, I filter the poster. I suggest you do the same should you find my postings irritating or repetitive

I believe you misunderstand the importance of a unique dynamic at play here. That unique dynamic is TELFER, both the crappy low grade mine and its faltering processing facility which I suspect was on the verge of being closed down until Havieron was discovered.

Newcrest desperately want to get high grade ore feed into Telfer to make the facility profitable once more and extend its economic life. The supply of that ore will come from GGP's Havieron and if all goes well other discoveries as well.

I agree with your point that valuations for commodity explorers have been somewhat muted in recent times and that does impact upon GGP, without question but unlike for example, SOLG, GGP is in a unique position. We already have a nearby customer for our assets (assuming they are discovered)

The fact that GGP does not need to invest capital to construct facilities to process its ore is massive for GGP. Our facilities already exist, 'down the road'.

GGP simply need to keep exploring, discovering and monetising. They haven't faltered yet. They've been exceptional

I have noticed that Newcrest tend to take equity stakes in the companies in which they partner. Solgold and Lundin being two examples. I wonder if Newcrest intend that strategy for GGP or will they simply embrace the JV approach, focus on drilling out Havieron and then let GGP do what it does best, exploring other licences which may explain why Newcrest have right of first refusal. That limits exposure for Newcrest in the exploration stage and gives them upside when exploration in the Paterson comes up trumps on the other licences, that may trigger another JV. Rinse and repeat

No problem fella. I and no doubt others will be guided by the public statements made by the Sandeep Biswas (CEO, Newcrest). He's the one who will decide the direction of travel in terms of how Havieron is commercialised. It's a huge statement of intent when the main man at Newcrest publicly exclaims at a major resource conference how important Hav is to the future of Telfer. That route to monetisation for is huge for GGP. It removes the fear of dilution and there's one thing the market fears more than anything else is DILUTION.

The GGP strategy is superb. Sell off minor assets to finance high value assets. To know the market value of GGP is underpinned by Hav is so reassuring. You can buy and hold with a high degree of confidence barring the usual caveats when buying shares in exploration companies

J813 - Absolutely. My thinking as well though I'd like to see GGP (as an explorer) monetise its discoveries for the best possible price. This is best practice for an explorer unlike at SOLG where the CEO's become obsessed with becoming an explorer, which i suicidal. The initial capital costs are so large they have the ability to destroy a company ala SXX. Spending money to make money is a fundamental part of business. It's called capital investment. You can't put the cart before the horse.

By leveraging Newcrest’s existing infrastructure at Telfer, Greatland believes they will reduce upfront capital costs, time to production, and time to first cash flows at Havieron. The question is this. What techniques do GGP apply that affords them a higher probability of uncovering a commercial discovery? What is GGP doing that Newcrest did not?

Is it a creative, almost artistic process of applying new techniques to the process of uncovering targets to drill?

They're doing something right, whatever that may be. Almost an intuitive appreciation of the geology or is it pure, blind luck?

If the market believes GGP has 'the eye', as it were, then that bolsters confidence in their ability to uncover discoveries in their next drilling program and let's face it, confidence and trust is absolutely everything in the market.

Last week's results from Tasmania again hit 'high grade'. Havieron, 'unique' grades as per Biswas. Again, their record of uncovering high grade deposits remains intact

I also like the fact that GGP's management has extensive experience of this region

It wouldn't surprise me if Newcrest has something up its sleeve regarding another JV or something similar

As an aside. That tree-shake early last week piqued my interest. The MMs deliberately triggered stop-losses to accumulate stock for their buy orders. It was a swift, brutal smash and grab! It was like Dick Turpin came roaring past on his trusty steed with both barrels blazing. I knew then that it would be a good week ahead. Some market observers (all of us) sometimes attribute a price fall to a 'tree-shake' when it clearly is nothing of the sort. That the price is falling not because of the market triggering losses to fill buy orders but because people are selling the stock into a market that is uninterested in buying your stock. Why pay more for something you don't want?

What does 'similar geophysical characteristics' mean in actuality? Does this three word description indicate a higher probability that Havieron is connected in some shape or form? Is that the inference?

Youtube does have lots of videos on the use of Geophysics to uncover targets for drilling to find a hard resource (gold, silver, copper etc etc)

Comparing share-prices between two companies in the same sector is meaningless. Start with market capitalisation, assets, location of assets, nature and quality of assets, debt and management.

I hold SOLG but cut my exposure when Mather indicated his desire to go to mining. Well, sorry but that's ******. Capex demands would crush SOLG

hit the right note the technical chart becomes redundant. Yes, there is always a time to take your profit when the facts change but until that point is reached you extract as much as you can while the going is good.

What will Sandeep Biswas say next week? Does he have an announcement to make regarding Havieron and Telfer?

Volume off the scale. Institutional buying? Well, Berenberg and Peel Hunt have been bidding for stock on the order-book for weeks now especially Berenberg. They are buying for someone, of that I am sure.

it's well balanced without sell side bias so don't be spooked by this price volatility...it's called profit-taking, it's normal price action and it's the Friday feeling kind of profit taking so we shouldn't be surprised
