This entire debate is all well and good but why after so much prevarication and over so many years did MM decide to relinquish his GS NOW? Why now??? Is it merely a corporate gov issue and if it is a corp gov issue then MM's given way his GS holding for a REASON as yet undisclosed. There has to be a reason for MM's notable action

He's gonna need institutional backing for a prem listing as well so a decent set of results will be essential in that process. Funds aren't gonna buy shares in a company with faltering earnings and weakening prospects which is why I believe THG is a turnaround prospect

If Matt wants THG to achieve a FTSE250 premium listing then there is NO WAY the next set of results can be anything other than above expectations even marginally. He needs a springboard into the FTSE250 and the next set of results will provide that. I suspect he knows they will be or else why would he publicly declare his FTSE250 ambitions

(Alliance News) - Stock prices in Europe closed higher on Friday, while tech shares surged in New York, after a cooler US inflation reading offered hope that the end of the Federal Reserve's hiking cycle is closer.

If the market sees that rates are close to peaking then tech company valuations should start to see bouyancy

It does look like we could close above 80 or even above..very bullish, technically

If 80p falls then we should see a decent and swift appreciation, but then..............

Chariot (CHAR:15.8p), a £152mn Africa-focused energy group developing and delivering transitional energy projects, is in the final stages of selecting a farm-out partner for its flagship Anchois gas development project in Morocco.

Around 40 companies accessed the data room and I understand that multiple offers have been received from significantly larger exploration and production companies, according to the company. Chariot has already spent $50mn (£39.2mn) on the project and the board anticipates “retaining a material stake in the licences and a [significant] upfront cash consideration”.

THG directors buy in

THG (THG) shares have lost 85 per cent of their value since they floated in 2020 as the e-commerce company, which owns beauty and nutrition brands and provides digital services through its Ingenuity division, has consistently disappointed the market with profit warnings and concerns around corporate governance.

Recent board updates have improved the governance situation, although disquiet amongst shareholders remains. Co-founder and chief executive Matthew Moulding has given up his “special share” arrangement, which allowed him to veto takeovers. The share will be cancelled.

The board has also been buttressed by the appointment of Premier Foods (PFD) and Fuller, Smith & Turner (FSTA) remuneration committee chair Helen Jones as another independent non-executive director. But question marks remain about Iain McDonald, the founder and chief investment officer of Belerion Capital, which was involved in a potential bid for THG in 2022. McDonald has stepped down from the remuneration committee but almost a quarter of votes at the company’s AGM on 21 June were cast against his re-election to the board because of independence concerns.

THG said in pre-AGM trading update that it had a “strong” second quarter and kept its guidance unchanged. Management expects adjusted cash profits for financial year 2023 to be in line with the analyst consensus of £118.5mn, forecasts which indicate a margin of 5.3 per cent.

Liberum analysts said that margin improvement “appears achievable given the significant tailwinds from whey price declines which should fully benefit [the company in the second half of the year] and ongoing efforts to reduce costs in the business”.

Board members also seem confident about the prospects of a share price improvement. Co-founder and chief operating officer John Gallemore bought £448k-worth of shares in joint names with his wife on the same day as the AGM. Non-executive director Sue Farr and her husband bought a total of £50k-worth of shares the following day. end
