We haven't seen sensitivity figures for lateral flow tests against the Indian variant. Just a lot of hot air about gold standard tests. None of the lateral flow tests are gold standard. Another lie peddled by the rampers.

Just the usual abuse without anyone able to offer a convincing reason to take a test that gives a massively greater chance of giving you a damaging false positive than a useful true positive at low prevalence. Don't shoot the messenger but I'm 100% sure that unless these lateral flow tests are made compulsory there won't be the market the idiots are predicting. Anyone with any sense will tell those trying to push the tests to feck off. And the LFTs won't be compulsory as they're not accurate enough.

I’m going on holiday and have been offered a free LFT. It isn’t compulsory. So if I get one and it comes up positive my holiday is screwed yet I wouldn’t trust the results as these tests produce a high percentage of false positives at low prevalence as is the case now. Thanks but no thanks. Mugs might take them once and there may be a spike in sales but it will quickly drop off. Possible sales abroad but this company’s track record is rubbish imo with collapse of their German and Indian businesses.

There are concerns the variant can evade antibodies generated after vaccination. It follows there are concerns about it evading lateral flow tests unless they are developed to be specific to the mutations in the spike protein. So the government issues LFTs like candy, the mugs taking them think they’re fine and the Indian variant has the last laugh. I’ll pass on your Mickey Mouse tests thanks all the same Boris.
