Garonne, probably best not to expect anything of Putin. I’m sure that some of his cronies think this is actually a very bad idea and it doesn’t have the support of the Russian younger generation either. As you know, people of his ilk always fall from grace quite spectacularly.
Mucksy, we don’t usually imprison the opposition so that our leader can stay in power.
Take your point re the lockdown breaches, but I know of several folks in ordinary jobs who didn’t stick to the rules. Police, nurses, plumbers to highlight a few.
I started the thread and indicated that I’ll be buying tomorrow. If an RNS lands, so be it. My preference would be for one on Monday, but events beyond my control will more than likely result in the SP dropping tomorrow unless Putin decides overnight to withdraw 150k ground troops, attack helicopters, artillery and tanks. I doubt that.
DG1066, on a rare positive day and with futures going in the right direction, you choose today to complain. Whether you’re happy or unhappy, today should be a selling day for you. Sometimes I don’t understand people.
My point is that Putin is old school KGB (Salisbury poisoning) and I think he’d take Ukraine given the chance, regardless of the economic consequences.
I’m aware of Polands NATO status but it open up another border front. Lots at stake here.
Bondy, I agree with you. Just pointing out that DW is correct on that one ExE point.
I’m not an AB hater and not his biggest fan either, but whatever the prices were in the green sector, compared to now, aren’t the fault of the respective CEO’s. At these levels (let’s just accept them) news will shift the price markedly.
Bondy123, DW is correct about ExE approaching AFC, but that’s hardly an issue as AB wouldn’t have known the race series was an actual ‘thing’. As for ABB; if they indeed made the call (that’s undoubtedly a DW guess) it indicates that they’d heard of AFC too. No drama either way.
Another thing to consider is the biased views of some investment/trading institutions. Their fortunes are made during periods of volatility and it’s good for them talk up the impacts of rate hikes to drive prices down. Those institutions which were bearish just a few weeks ago, are now quite bullish. It’s always worth keeping in mind before going with the herd.
Spacerat, I disagree. Rate hikes are pretty much priced in and investors want to see value going forward. A raft of orders would lift the price here, as it would for any stock which has seen a downward price adjustment of late. AFC, ITM et al were frothy for a long time and people jumped onboard, not wishing to miss the boat. Now we’re at a more realistic price and news would make a huge difference. Only my view but this is a time to buy.
