The main issue was that Kroger were trying to break into Florida, Wisconsin and Maryland and they failed. Some people think they got the marketing wrong

I still think there are quant funds that are shorting this because their number crunching sees the revenue from Ocado Retail removed from the reported figures without the context that reporting of this revenue has passed to M&S.

So they see a company whose revenue dropped by £3bn and they think it's going bust.

I also think Ocado is plugged into all sorts of analyst trading models as a supermarket (for example the other day it was mentioned in a news story as impacted by an investor dumping Sainsbury's stock). So the multiple they apply to revenue for valuation is less than 2x whereas you would expect at least 5x for a tech stock.

I think they will both float it off as a separate listing. This website has been set up in the last few months and looks ready for investors.

Yeah ithey did that some time back. They no longer report grocery sales- that has been passed over to M&S.

All revenue relates to tech sales. The thing is a lot of brokers still have their supermarket guys analysing the figures.

Indeed, over half of current annual revenue in one payment plus the Phoenix site is going ahead.

Listened to the Kroger call. Repeatedly stated that following the closures their overall "hybrid" e-commerce business including the fulfilment centres is now profitable and is the fastest growing part of the business.

So the worst has happened. Hopefully Ocado will get the compo of 250m 💰 and all good going forward.

Worth noting that the 3 CFCs that Kroger closed were all in states where Kroger does not have a physical store presence.

They thought they could go into those states and steal market share from the dominant players like Publix in Florida.

So they aren't just giving up on the Ocado model but abandoning attempts to have customers in Wisconsin, Maryland and Florida where they have no stores.

Ocado are just caught up in the thrashings around of a big US conglomerate that are unable to see beyond returning cash to shareholders through buybacks.

Great point about the availability of stock in store leading to missing items on the order Pokerchip.

I had previously thought about this from the perspective of the picker and the in store shoppers fighting over the last pack of discounted chocolate hob knobs

May need to make some fake AI videos of in store pickers beating up shoppers or running them over with their trolleys.

Ocado announced in March they are opening the end 25 or early 26 so if the openings have been cancelled then market needs to know as presumably will impact their cash break even forecast

Market needs to know what is going on with the new openings that were announced in Phoenix and North Carolina.

They are not mentioned - you would assume also cancelled but needs to be confirmed.
