I will give an example. 4D Pharma had a candidate for cancer treatment. The first info by RNS was that they had commenced a clinical trial. They then announced Proof of Concept 2 years into the trial with humans at Phase 2a.

In January Avacta claimed that they had demonstrated Proof of Concept in affimers for cancer therapy. This was based on in vivo trial results. You don't do that. Proof of concept comes from signs of efficacy in humans not mice.

The point I am making is a lot was made of bringing on board Ruane, Cuniffe and Goldfarb but they don't seem to be very good at picking winners if their 5 and 10 year fund performance is taken into account.

Sequoia have failed to beat an S&P 500 index fund over 1 yr, 5yrs and 10 yrs.

Compare that to the likes of Baillie Gifford Scottish Mortgage who have beaten the index by about 5 times over 5 and 10 year periods.
