After marstons buying up so many English breweries and adding to their debt, I wonder where this leaves so many of those English breweries. With marstons already closing ringwood , I can only assume that the Danes will have no interest in keeping these fine English breweries alive to compete against their fizzy products .

The annual report to March 31, 2024 is due for release in approx two weeks time. Whilst there has been some significant sellibg since then it should provide a clue to who is selling and approx how many they had left at that date

In looking into it we should get news in about five weeks time . The Singapore websites of law firms who handle this sort of thing suggest that it is straightforward and is not an unusual event . The vote was nearly unanimous so again would seem unlikely there would be a problem . If I get anything further from Grindrod will advise . Think the vote is going to signal a huge amount of activity though which has got to be positive .

It’s really good news but I fear the entity selling is nearer to 15 per cent . Nevertheless shows huge confidence in the company as I have . This is not a two week investment but the young management have huge ambitions and rightly so . The fleet is now superbly modern and rightly geared for optimum return in terms of cargo bulk and low operation cost

Hi Krusty , given the amount they must hold a sizable percentage of the company but I don’t know who it is . But I think it likely they hold Too many to sell in one go . I am aware the company is looking for someone or an institution to take up these shares but that doesn’t happen over night . The one thing I do know it’s that is no one from the board or the family … in fact in recent months they have been hugely adding . They have far more invested than I do and I see this as an opportunity to buy more …. Sadly not to the quantity the seller has . We will know for certain year end to see the stakes that largest shareholders still have .

The large shareholder offloading is a real pain holding the share price back . I so hope the company can find a place for his shares

Hi Mike . You are right , the benefits will not come through by the time of the next results . Singapore just doesn’t move that quickly . So I agree benefits will slowly accrue throughout the year but the strength of positive vote puts Ed and the board in a very strong position .

Well I could use Anglo Saxon language but I won’t. Vote needed 75 percent approval . It got ……. 95.714 ! Superb. Substantial cost savings and simplifies management hugely . Brilliant news and def a buying opportunity in my book as the market will take time to analyse the implications of this vote .

Hi Krusty and rylidan , the meeting is indeed on the 20th in Singapore at UK time 10am. As a small holder of grindrod I have already voted in favour as a yes vote will release huge cost savings for Taylors. Also as a grindrod shareholder I will have a personalised link to the meeting where I can listen in but not participate. As soon as the meeting concludes and if the vote is announced or indeed anything newsworthy I will post it here. My diary has been cleared for the 20th ! Well spotted re the share buy. Lovely if the big sellers shares are taken up by a new large buyer.

Am so disappointed with the management of this company. Nowhere to be seen let alone any deals apart from the boring share buyback which blew a load of money. Sold a quantity yesterday at a substantial loss and now weighing up whether to get out all together. What on earth are the managment doing ?

He certainly has everything to prove, not least he wa so involved with voiseys bay and the jury is very much out on that one currently. Also month and month and no sign of a new deal . I often compare this company to trident royalties. I know very different companies but the latter so active in deals and updates.
