If biomsar is proven to be a viable fuel for large engines and commercial supply can be established, then I doubt we’ll have to look for a buyer. We just need to make the hard part happen and the rest will follow.

Target price has so many variables as to be almost meaningless. In terms of medium to long term major progress then MSC is the single most important project in my view, simply because the marine market is huge and desperate for solutions, perfect time for a breakthrough.
MSC going commercial would create a buying frenzy in anticipation of other major users to follow. What that means in terms of SP is anyone’s guess but no doubt heading toward 3 figures as the wider investment market sees the potential.

If the SP settled around 5p for a few weeks it would do no harm, consolidation is what we need not a traders frenzy of buy and sell. This, or a little higher, is a much better platform to move up from should news arrive in the next month.

I thought assays are location specific, ie each crude will have a different composition. The source ore for the current tests are from a new location so perhaps have yet to be assayed? The composition of the oil will be relevant to QRF as they formulate a recipe for the msar.

I understand the feeling, wanting to know what’s going on etc. I’m tired of the AIM desire for “updates” which usually involve potential rather than reality. As far as QFI is concerned, I’d like an RNS that told me about real progress, definitive plans for the short/medium term, not a rehash of previous updates with nothing new to report designed to tickle the scrotums or nervous investors. On balance I’d rather wait for a proper progress report, frustrating as it is.

A lot depends on whether MSAR can catch the environmental wave that’s brewing. It’s not hard for lay people to understand the benefits of emulsion fuel and biofuel, so if we can get into the thick of it I think there’s a lot of clever money would get behind QFI. First major step is MSC commercial deal, that’s the door opener we need.

I would refer you to the Maersk LONO that found comparable wear rates between MSAR and HFO.
MSC are a highly professional outfit and in no real need to cut corners or shorten well established processes like a 4000 hour LONO. Engine maintenance is a significant cost factor with such a large fleet so imo they’d want to be sure of MSAR in this respect before committing to use it in the wider fleet. It’s just good business sense in my view. Yes we want them to cut corners and get there quickly but to MSC I’m sure they’d want to do the job properly and complete testing before committing.
I agree some preparatory planning could be undertaken prior to the end of LONO if the interim echos that of the Maersk trial but 4000 hours will be the trigger point for the real decisions.

I certainly expect msar to perform well and as expected. It will then come down to MSC number crunching, fuel supply network AND potential PR benefit of using a less polluting fuel etc.

I also hope biomsar forms part of the trials as I can see massive demand for this type of fuel in the very near future. Expediting development is an absolute must.

One of the key elements of the LONO is to see if there are any adverse effects of MSAR on the normal wear and tear they’d expect to see and if any additional maintenance is required compared to HFO, they will have large amounts of maintenance data on HFO and MGO combined use.

Any decision to opt for msar cannot really be taken till they finish the full 4000 hours, only then can they properly compare the two fuels. So don’t expect an early announcement from MSC, it will go the whole road to the point our fingernails will be gone!

Being widely known as a helpful solution to some of the problems facing shipping is a good thing and should be encouraged. But there’s no doubt, as has been said earlier, that the single biggest thing to expedite that to reality would be commercial supply of our products to MSC and whoever else wants it. We will find ourselves at the centre of media and public attention which no doubt will fuel further interest in us. Summer 2022 is the key period when MSC will decide if they take their company down the msar/biomsar route, a critical point in our company trajectory!

The shipping industry has decided to put it’s house in order for one main reason, public pressure concerning environmental matters. That pressure comes via public platforms and fora focusing public opinion in the direction of political power.
QFI on social media is not about looking to sell MSAR to a specific customer, it’s about selling our company as a solution, a player in the future of environmentally less damaging fuels en route to zero carbon. We want the public to buy in to what we offer cos where the public goes the industry will likely follow.

I do Know what you mean Tidetime, can’t come quick enough! I guess what I’m saying is that real progress up the way can only come with solid company performance. Many of us here have been through the early days of boom and bust and didn’t make of it what we could have. I know that if QFI succeeds to a reasonable level then it’s all been worth it for me.

Absolutely. I doubt very much there will be a repeat of the days where the SP boomed on hot air. Suits me, would rather we had Value that was underpinned by commercial success than speculative buying.

Buying in at single figures should give the holder excellent returns, especially if they hold all the way up, assuming we do go all the way up.
But not everyone will hold all the way, regardless what they say on bulletin boards. Many will derisk and sell a portion, which makes sense. How many will actually hold all they currently have till we reach what we’re capable of? Very few if any, perhaps some of the large LTHs which is why no matter what news we get there will always be sellers at every stage of progress.

I would like to say I’d hold all the way but tbh I don’t know. In some ways it’s easier holding on the way down than picking a sell point on the way up. Nice dilemma to have though, here’s hoping.

Progress through the various key stages is what will make the SP respond and “rerate”, anything else is trading short term chatter imo.

These days Maersk are going down the ammonia route but with all shippers, they will have to use a variety of fuels as there is nowhere near enough low carbon fuel to go around. So their fuel use will be a mix of various fuels of which MSAR as a direct replacement for HFO and BioMSAR as a low carbon fuel can play their part.
No doubt Maersk will watch MSC with a keen eye, especially the BioMSAR trials. If the fuel works well on a large two stroke engine then it really is game on to produce it at scale as demand could be huge.

From our perspective we want others in the industry to notice us but the fact is, at the moment, we are one of a number of trial fuels in the pipeline. Hopefully it will be a different story when the trial is underway and interim results are favourable. I would expect the wider industry to really take notice if MSC adopt commercially, that’s the major we move we want and need.

I’d be very wary of such individuals, why do you think he shares so much information? In the hope his “followers” also buy in and boost the SP while he picks his exit point, rinse and repeat.

Altruism and investing are not normally aquatinted with each other.

We’ve been informed that Q2 will be used to source fuel production equipment and planning etc. If we assume Cepsa are the refinery supplying the fuel (it’s definitely the Med area, MMU is in Spain and they are the logical option) then they need time to re-install fuel production there. We’ve also been told for Cepsa this will take around 6 months. Factor in they’ve informed Edison the trial will actually begin Q1 2022, then it seems clear to me that fuel production starts very late 21/early 22, perfect timing to supply the LONO and Morocco commercial contract.
