The FTSE 100 has barely gone anywhere in the last 20 years.
Compare that to the performance of the S&P 500, which is up almost 70%, the Nikkei 225 which is up over 50% and the German DAX which is up over 25%, and it’s hard to argue that the FTSE 100 has seen a pretty poor return over the past few years. Since the outcome of that Brexit vote became known, the FTSE 100 has gone pretty much nowhere, despite the fact the pound is around 20% weaker on an exchange rate weighted basis since that.

I don't like to buy shares just before Christmas.

It is hard to believe the AZN price could be manipulated.

I would not recommend "buy". Four years ago it was 30 £, and now is 2.40 £.

Every penny does matter in the FTSE, because the British business has been rubbish in the last 20 years. Most FTSE 100 companies have been just for trading, not for investing.
One of the most notable trends of the last few years has been how the FTSE 100 index has underperformed relative to its peers. We can assign any number of reasons for this failure to keep up with the likes of the DAX, Nikkei 225 and the S&P 500.

Thanks Mr Math for your comments which I like to read. Unfortunately I have started buying AZN at price around 80-82£. As you wrote this company should be a pretty safe money.

I have invested around 40 thousand pounds in the last 5 weeks. My summary is good company and wrong timing to invest. I would not buy at the moment.

I don't expect 39bn offer will be accepted.

Getting the vaccine from the factory to people’s arms could pose some major challenges.
Like Moderna’s vaccine, Pfizer and BioNTech’s preparation is based on mRNA, which falls apart unless it’s kept in a deep freeze. As a result, the vaccine will have to be chilled to minus 70 degrees Celsius until it’s ready to be injected. Pfizer is building boxes that will keep the vaccines cold as they’re being transported. In addition, like most vaccines currently in trials, it requires two doses. Ensuring that people return after three weeks for their second injection will add an extra layer of complexity to the vaccine’s distribution.
