Good evening Brigands.
Just been reading the statistics on Worldometer and it's not a good read. Coming up on 100m covid cases worldwide with over 2m deaths. Our UK figures are scary 97,939 deaths but what keeps surprising me is how far up the league table of deaths/million population we are. We are at number 5 after San Marino, Gibralter, Belgium and Slovenia. Am I fooling myself in thinking that our statistics are better than other countries who maybe are under reporting?
O...Opinion on SAGA? Well it is a 64,000 $ question, we all want to know where to be invested to get the greatest return (in scale and speed) when recovery starts. Or not of course, it might be better to be more in cash at the moment. Of SAGA and CCL, I feel SAGA might jump further, faster than CCL. I am tempted by the metaphor of it takes longer to turn bigger ships! Excuse me. Both companies have obviously got pent up demand but the tiny size of SAGA by comparison means it will require fewer bookings etc. Also CCL rely a lot on Americans to book, well they tend to be prudent, scared even of re-entering a potential dangeous environment. Also into the mix, did I read something very recently about SAGA maybe selling an underighting business.
Of the airlines, TUI, IAG, EZJ (I hold shares in the first two) I also remain unsure which would be the winner. Holidays verses business travel & longer haul holidays seems to be the question, again I am not sure.
Leisure, CINE, JDW, brewers etc....I feel these will react faster to end of lockdown and increasing vaccination than the airlines. It seems JDW are taking advantage of closing independants to make a land gof for cheap sites for the future as some independants are going broke. Inevitable I suppose.
Sorry I haven't much to offer, I keep thinking and reading about these issues without really getting anywhere.
