The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
Hi all, still AWOL I'm afraid, another week with no trades for me although of course I wish I had sold SNG in the 180s. Ha.
T... quite enjoying this new life especially in the good weather. No early prospect of my going to France I regret to say. Think I am getting withdrawal symptoms. Ha.
O....AXS got a bit frisky earlier in the week but I haven't been watching their news. Do you have any? I now also have a few extra subscription shares at 140p.
C...I see NG. Had a nice 3.5% Divi but the share has suffered a larger drop. Doh
V...do tell me when it's time to sell sng. Lol
Hope brigands made some profits this week
Have a good weekend. Merlot for me, don't think I have earnt a good rioja lately.
V...I am actually busy with angle grinder up ladder trying to remove cast iron guttering from front of my house. Think I am getting too decrepit for this kind of work. But heard an alert go off for SNG at 171p. Wow, that's a 70% increase in 10 days. Are you selling any? I am in two minds.
Thinking of offering my angle grinder expertise to the F1 pit crew to remove their wheel nuts. LOL
n.....when I started trading in the late 70s, I would buy in approx £700+ lots for same reason as you, to make charges less significant. 5 years ago I was buying in £25k to £36K lots. For the last year or two I have mostly bought in £5K to £8K lots (but usually several of them, tranches). The exception is when I trade one of my prime holdings (GGP, NCYT, SNG, ARB) to try and buy back cheaper, in which case current circumstances determine size of trade, perhaps 15 to 50% of holding. Very reluctant to sell out completely of one of my prime holdings in case I miss a major rise. (OK OK, I admit, it's a lack of bottle.)
V...we seem to be holding a quite similar portfolio. On GGP, yes, it would be nice if they were back over 30p (not to mention 37p!) but I always bought them for the long term so am feeling quite laid back about them. Perhaps if I checked my average price, I wouldn't be so relaxed. You could say I am in denial.
Good weekend all.
Still on my sabbatical and getting lots of jobs done around the place. I have been taking a quick look at the market occasionally. Seems like bad news for me. This tax year so far I am down a lot with my largest holdings NCYT, GGP and ARB well down. Glad to see my next largest holding, SNG recovering lately.
Good luck all and have a nice long weekend.
.
T...No, not back in the office yet. Today we are going to Bude for a 5 day stay in a mobile home. (France is a distant memory!)
Needless to say that the forecast is for continuous heavy rain.
Heard a rumour than Brittany Ferries is restarting Plymouth to Roscoff ferry from 5th June. Trouble is France is not on our "Green List" yet.
Good morning Brigands.
Still AWOL I'm afraid. Porch rebuild nearing completion but the project is suffering from "mission creep"...."some more staging for plants would be nice"...."an extra light in that corner"......"a shelf here would be useful". Ha, since I passed three score and ten, I have decided that my life is mission creep. No trading lately I am afraid, hardly missed it although aware my portfolio is sinking. Had a LFT (negative) the other week, just because there was no queue at the testing van. Dentist this morning.
o...I am taking up the offered extra AXS shares.
Good luck all.
Hi everyone, wow, I've got tons of postings to catch up on. Have been continuing with my DIY. For those interested, the porch is now weatherproof, phew. Not finished yet, but close, only need to make a few rebated battens but my router is kaput. Hoping it is just the carbon brushes needing replacement.
Made another mistake on market....you've heard the maxim "sell in may and go away"? Well I went away but forgot to sell! LOL
Apologises for absence lately, trying to get stuck into the DIY. Job kept getting more compicated but am making good progress between showers. I think one more week should see it completed.
T...yes thanks, foot is better now that I don't have a shoe nailed to it! Ha.
Hope you all had a profitable week, I certainly didn't...NCYT, SNG etc going down the tubes somewhat and HUR!!! -50%, oh dear, oh dear.
C...actually it's midweek Merlot to drown my sorrows. DIY work moving very slowly, now predicting 2 weeks until I finish.
I don't give share advice, BUT, if I thought I would be stuck in a share for 1 or 2 years, (your GSK for example) I would be selling all not just some?
I hold 88E at bought at 1.59p too, nearly sold at 1.7p today but feel there is more to be made. "End of drilling"? Maybe but I don't follow what I would call the Newtonian approach. I just think they are undervalued now, it's 1.8p or more for mine.
Posting not meant as trading advice, especially as I am on the company sick list at the moment. Sick and stupid as it turns out..I was using a circular saw to cut some rebates in the rain earlier!
Posting not meant as DIY advice either.
m....cut and rebated some more wood yesterday, in particular the top and bottom rail. Gave wood 2nd coat of three of preservative. Need to wait 24hrs tween coats. Have to cut and rebate 5 verticals next but trod on a rusty nail yesterday and now limping a bit so day off today, perhaps some tidying up of old wood with nails!!
Hope my foot improves as need to go shopping tomorrow, OH is away on holiday with her sister.
Rain showers aren't helping my work either.
I see one of my favourites QFI, Quadrise fuels, up 13%. Good to see 88e back up above 1.6
o....just checked in and my TTG have sold on limit at 242.5 for a 5% profit. Am interested in buying back in.
Only my 3rd trade in two weeks, can't believe it. Funny how quickly I can break the trading habit. Used to be watching (and trading) all the time....I guess I must be on holiday!
