I see there is some decent buying today. IGAS & EDR have had a little boost from the government statement on fracking earlier in the week. I wonder if this buying today is because investors realise PEDL181 has potential in this regard (50% Europa owned). Or maybe there is new interest offshore Ireland!

Planning officers have recommended approval of the extension, for what it's worth. The planning committee generally think they know more than the planning officers, which is a bit of a kick in the nuts to the planning officers when you think about it.

It looks to me like the extension will be dealt with on 1st August. My guess is they'll refuse, but Egdon will just appeal if they do, so it will be a paperwork exercise which shouldn't cause any delay - the important application will be unaffected by a refusal, in my opinion.

There are 2 applications in place - the licence extension which, as far as I know may be August, the second is the new application (the big one) which I believe could be October.

Following yesterday's government announcement regarding the country's first shale fracking project by Cuadrilla at Preston New Road, Igas submit an appeal against West Cheshire's planning refusal for Ellesmere Port testing. Companies with fracking interests know how important that decision was.

Surely council planning committees will take their responsibilities a little more seriously from now on, to prevent incurring financial penalties should they make ridiculous decisions. Roll on Wressle (and Burton).

Riz is just another one of the 'keep it in the ground' brigade, pretending to be a shareholder. These bulletin boards are infested with them. At least Swampy admits (I think) to being a selfish nimby. The Riz type are simply anti O&G in everybody's back yard in the country, but like Swampy they want the benefits that O&G bring. Scum as far as I'm concerned.

Indeed Mix, EDR could have done a better job with the last application, but the fact is that the system they were proposing to employ was tried and tested time and time again onshore UK, without any problem in the past, and they were clearly complacent.

I believe the planning committee objected to the last application through a mixture of trade union loyalty and a desire to look 'in-tune' with the current misguided approach towards fashionable environmental issues. The council were due a kicking when it went to appeal, but they employed a far better hydrogeologist than EDR did, and she convinced the inspector there was enough doubt that there couldn't be pollution problems. The fact works were being undertaken by highly competent specialists with an unblemished record was completely ignored.

In my opinion the council planning committee have ridden their luck more than anyone thought possible. If they continue to obstruct this application they risk exposing themselves to be misrepresenting their elected position.

I'm not sure I agree with you over Wressle, Jus. I think a lump sum is likely to be of more use to Europa in H1 2019 than a steady income over the coming years.

I am of the same opinion as Jus on this. Europa in my book are a serious honest outfit, who see the future offshore Ireland. I believe there is a cat in hell's chance of ever getting to production at Holmwood - there are too many selfish scum of the earth NIMBYS in the area. However, I have no doubt that the likes of UKOG or ANGS would seize the opportunity to grab the extra percentage to promote the Kimmeridge dream. UKOG seem to be cosy with the planning committee so maybe they can achieve what Europa can't.
I'd be happy with selling Wressle once permission is granted to the other JV partners, unload Holmwood covering costs to date to ANGS & UKOG, and concentrate on Corrib.

The sorry fact is that the greenies misrepresent every conventional drill, as being fracking. There are a number of Unite Union members on the planning committee, and the Unite Union expect their members who are on planning committees to oppose fracking applications every single time. But the Unite Union members are very much in the minority, and there should be enough councillors with common sense to outweigh the influence of those who are solely interested in representing their union.
In addition, I expect the council's legal representatives to strongly advise approval to avoid significant costs being incurred by the council in any future appeal.
The planning inspector said what needs to be done in the application to make sure it will be passed, it's been done, the planning committee must surely approve.

I must admit I wouldn't touch UKOG with a bargepole Mix, but each to his own I suppose.

Very good post Kingben. Personally, I expect Biscathorpe to be well before Wressle, and Wressle to be well before the end of the year. I have an open mind about Holmwood. Of course the timing for Wressle will be very much up to the council planners.

This is the ideal sized company for rampers and derampers to manipulate the share price at Vernon. If you don't understand that you must lose a lot of money in your investments.

You don't seem to understand that if you have £1k worth of shares, they are worth £1k before and after consolidation. Also, if a share is worth 0.1p (next to nothing), you seem to think your investment is worth next to nothing regardless of how many you have. It can be worth a great deal of money if you have 100 million of them!

How many investors expect a 90,000% return? Are you sure you are doing your maths properly? That would mean a £900 return for every £1 invested! I think most investors would be very pleased with 90%.

And why is Joe Soap going to deramp if he is sitting on a pile of next to nothing value shares? He isn't (unless he is a half-wit) - the people who either want to have a pile of shares (so want a lower entry point) or who want to damage the company will be the only people who will deramp. Can you really not see that???

It's not an appeal Gwynwin, it's a new application - hopefully to be heard in the autumn with production by the end of the year.

Biscathorpe spud should be late summer/early autumn.

The company are always looking at further opportunities, so Biscathorpe may not be the next news.

SAS, I suspect Egdon weren't going to drill until they'd farmed out more of the risk. Earlier this year Humber took 20% (11% from EDR & 9% from Montrose) and Union Jack took a further 10% (6% from EDR and 4% from Montose).
