brotherant, this refusal means very little really, in my opinion. The site won't be reinstated as the result will be appealed. The appeal won't be heard until after the new application is heard, probably October. The planning committee will desperately want to refuse the new application, but the council lawyer will be struggling to find an acceptable reason for refusal.

I hope that if they do refuse, Egdon go for costs. This planning committee seem to have allowed the power to go to their heads, and are treating Egdon with complete contempt.

Cllr Grant says he will vote against because he wants Egdon to get the [production] application moving so that people know what is going to happen. I implore Egdon to get the application here as soon as possible. The planning officer says the application is in the system.

What a joker. The application went in weeks ago!

Still, makes no difference, the main application is to come, and the government will want a bloody good reason for it to be refused.

This is what the planning officers have highlighted for the planning committee:

'The main issue to consider in the determination of this planning application is
whether the retention of the wellsite on site for an additional 12 months would have
an unacceptable impact on the local area.'

In theory, the planning committee could be seen to be insisting for all the disruption to the local area for traffic involved in restoring the site, then if production was granted at some point a repeat of all the disruption replacing the site as it currently is. Of course the planning committee will have no regard to costs being incurred by the joint venture partners, but they should appreciate their actions could cause unnecessary hassle for the locals. But then, do they actually care?

Sorry Kingben. It took me so long to do my post that I didn't see yours, which deals with Budge's question very well.

This is an application to extend the period before the site needs to be restored Budge. If it is refused, it will be appealed. While the appeal is ongoing, the site doesn't need to be restored. The new application for production, which addresses the concerns of the planning inspector, will probably be heard in October. The council planning committee will find it difficult to refuse that application, and my understanding is that the site won't have to be restored until the new application is fully dealt with.

This application could well be refused today, but it will make no difference to the main application to follow. It will show the possible intent of the planning committee for the main application though.

A number of Europa shareholders have commented on the Wressle planning application. Instead of poking up with the rizalinos of this world, perhaps it would be an idea for a few Egdon shareholders to stick up for the Wressle application too.

Below is the main Wressle application, which should be heard around October. If tomorrows extension application is refused, Egdon will have to appeal.
