RE: Sooo nearly 2021?31 Dec 2020 08:00
Keiny,
There is no evidence that the current BOD have a figure of £3.20 banded around 8 years ago still in their heads. It sounds like it is in your subconscious mind though and probably many other long term holders as well.
A lot has changed since then. To decide whether or not that figure is still relevant today, you need to determine:
1) was the £3.20 figure reasonable back then.
2) what has changed since then.
I spoke to one large private investor at the 2019 AGM and he felt that the £3 figure was overly optimistic and many had got a little carried away. The figure was purely based on a comparison of what other companies had been sold for at the time -
1 Billion Dollars divided by 1.6 (exchange rate) divided by 194Million (shares in issue at the time) = £3.22
So what's changed since?
Well, the sale of the company strategy has been shelved for the past eight years and there is no indication it will be off the shelf soon.
Whilst the science and products have been added to, we still are waiting for the data and deals that will "monetise assets".
Since the £3.20 figure was muted, the shares in issue have gone up from 194M to 815M (could go to 985M). This level of dilution brings the £3.20 figure down to 77p (63p fully diluted).
Of course, the IP has been added to with the potential of Moditope, Avidimab and possibly Covidity but these may merely give justification to a $1B valuation rather than increase it substantially. But let's say it doubles the value to $2B. Taking into account the exchange rate of 1.35 today (rather than the 1.6 back then) this would give an SP of £1.82 (or £1.50 fully diluted.) Realistically, I am looking for between 70p and £1.
Happy New Year!
