RE: Take over / Buy out22 Aug 2024 07:45
"What’s the point of ABs post and yours."
I can't speak for AB but this was the reason I posted..
Someone asked whether there had ever been an actual, formal offer for Scancell.
directinggas made reference to the RG interview in Frankfurt in order to show that back then the INTENT was to sell the whole company (at an attractive price to shareholders)
Ratty, quite rightly said there is no reason to believe the comments at the time were not genuine. He did however state, incorrectly, that the interview pre-dated Moditope. Purely in the interests of accuracy, I posted a correction. I don't think it has much impact on the topic being discussed but at the time there was speculation about whether Moditope would be hived off in a separate company. Scancell did make a statement that the issue was being discussed by the board to determine how shareholder interests could be best protected.
The above give context regarding intent. In response to the original question, my understanding was that no official bid had been made but they had come close. The name Roche was mentioned, whether this was the party that came close or just later described as the "preferred partner" is not clear.
Your other comments
"And I’d wager when it does it will sell for a dam sight more than it would have ten years ago"
I'm not sure how you think £1/£2 per share now is worth more than £3.20 per share 11 years ago?
"Just hope you and AB haven’t sold out completely on the rise. Ouch!"
No, not sold any. My last sale was on 7th December 2022 at 28.21p. This was from a tranche I bought between February 2022 and November 2022 at prices between 13p and 19p (most at 17p). So, smallcrow, MEAN=17, MODE=17, MEDIAN=16. The sale was to fund the purchase of a new car.
I have a reasonable large long term holding since 2012. There are frequent trading opportunities that present themselves (within any need for manipulation - they just occur. I don't feel bad about it. Hopefully, the person who bought mine at 28p will be happy when they sell them at £1.
I hope that explains where I'm coming from.
