No, I haven’t distanced myself from Bermuda’s post.
It was me that said “it APPEARS some want the Oxford/imperial vaccines to fail” not Bermuda.
So I am distancing myself from my OWN post and apologise unreservedly for the insinuation.

As I said, it is very welcome to learn that the Oxford and Imperial vaccines have 100% support on this board.

I did say “APPEARS” so I am heartened to hear that everyone on this board is hoping for the Oxford and Imperial vaccines to succeed.

I don’t think we should be surprised at the level of emotion and polarisation as there are conflicting interests.

It is the job of government to address the collective health/wealth issues - glad it’s not me.
As individuals we can be either selfish or altruistic.

It does sadden me that it appears some are hoping that the Oxford and Imperial vaccines fail in order to maximise their personal wealth. I for one hope they both succeed and get used as soon as possible. Even a modest success rate must translate into lives saved.

If at a later date, the Nottingham vaccine comes good and improves protection rate or length of time, even better.

I’m all for a level playing field though!

As many have pointed out, backing has been given to the most prominent. This is purely past history no assessment has been made on the merits, this would not be possible by the scientists let alone politicians. To assess on merit, all the candidates would have to be trialled, arguably we should do this. But if there aren’t enough funds you have to make a choice.

It would be like choosing two brands of beans for my cash and carry and going with Heinz and Branson.

So it will be the same MODI1 compound but it will work better in some cancers than others. Presumably, the four targets chosen being the most likely to succeed?

We expect MODI trials to start H1 2021.
MODI1 targets several cancers - TNBC, ovarian, head and neck and renal.
Will each of these targets constitute a separate trial?
Will there be variants of the MODI1 drug for each target.
If not, are there other targets that could be covered with the same MODI1 batch?

My understanding is that Tecnically, the tumour doesn’t escape the vaccine, it escapes the immune system. The vaccine primes the immune system rather than targeting the tumour directly.
A checkpoint inhibitor targets the tumour.
Have I got that right?

As you have probably spotted, I am playing devil’s advocate. In doing so trying to illustrate what occurs in the real world, to name but a few....
Ignorance, bias, prejudice, preconceived notions, tendency to pigeon hole and compartmentalise.
The latter two being the product of evolution and the survival of the fittest.

You may well be right but that wasn’t the point I was making. The T cell approach has been developed and refined specifically targeting cancer, not viruses.
So is it is case of the answers Tcells, now what’s the question?

The only thing that concerns me slightly is maybe it’s a case of a solution looking for a problem rather than the other way round?

Personally I think rubbishing other shares seriously undermines the Scancell story which I believe stands on its own merit.

Well they reckon the chances of any one vaccine succeeding is 6%. So the Chinese have given themselves an evens chance. The U.K. has a 12% chance. I think they need to up the odds and back a few more otherwise they are hoping they get lucky.

Quite right. I hope it does make 7p. I think if there is more news on progress on other fronts we could get some momentum and a change in sentiment. If the news dries up, it may well slip back. Then of course there’s the question will there be a deal or a placing?
