Ok maybe I was slightly incorrect but the don’t make more money as the price increases. They also don’t need to build coin based applications either.

Also you can have a blockchain application without coins. Checkout DLT and Corda etc

Distributed ledgers are what you would use for trade, voting etc

The money from that is from “ technology consultancy and services” not from the price of the “coins”
