Britain’s cost of living crisis is unsustainable.
We’re living through a national economic emergency, but the Conservative government is putting the profits of oil and gas giants before the British people.
We cannot continue to make working people pay whilst oil and gas giants make record profits.
That’s why Labour has a plan to slash energy bills for good, create thousands of good jobs, and make the UK energy secure.
All while providing global leadership in tackling the climate crisis and protecting the environment for future generations.
Labour would:
1. Freeze energy bills now paid for with a windfall tax on the huge profits of oil and gas companies
2. Keep bills down in the long term by insulating 19 million homes
3. Establish GB Energy, a new publicly owned company, so the UK can’t be held to ransom over energy supply by dictators like Putin
4. Create thousands of good, well-paid jobs across our country, including for plumbers, electricians, engineers and technicians
5. Make Britain a clean power by 2030 by harnessing the power of marine and tidal energy, quadrupling offshore wind, doubling onshore wind, tripling solar power and ensuring the long-term security of nuclear power
6. Safeguard nature and our children’s future with a Clean Air Act, and crack down on water companies who dump sewage into our rivers and seas
1. O&G giants have gone.
2. EPC's have been law since 2010. Cost to insulate old housing stock? - unimaginable.
3. A state run entity - like the NHS?
4. Good jobs - possible but closer to minimum wage.
5. Where's the money coming from?
6. Forgot world peace.
