Hi Dobby. It was a component in the tig carrier and yes ultimately they did bring someone in to help the mechanic change the parts.

Could be both, we don't know. They flew in specialist help on the first breakdown and would do so again if required, but Epiroc have service and parts centres worldwide to aid companies keep their machinery running.

We cant expect that a small exploration company has the same breakdown and spares cover as the likes of a major who might have a spare of everything on site.

Joe I wouldn't be jumping to the conclusion of weeks, but as Lorna spoke of equipment being brought in from outside country which could mean parts or testing equipment, I would say we will be looking not this week but possibly the following before we may be running again.

The fault has to be traced before ordering expensive parts and we just have to trust the process. I'm confident in your time on the rigs you will have seen plenty of down time of different lengths and will know that the problems get resolved asap. As you know time is money so they wont be p@ssing about.

What I'm hoping for in the update RNS is...

"We have located the cause and replacement parts have been sourced and ordered"

As you say The Epiroc rig is very much at the low end of the scale and based on relatively small four axle HGV. There is no real comparison to the size of the offshore rigs other than the high pressure systems work in pretty much the same way.

I wouldn't disagree with what he says, only to say to folk not to get carried away over the number of parts as everything will be scaled down here. The hydraulic engineers and mechanics will go through the system in a methodical way to trace the fault, once they have, it will get fixed. Trust them to do their jobs and be assured somebody will be hovering over them to keep them at it.

New replacement parts extend the life of any machine.

It's still on the back of a lorry Chesh. It's still basic engineering to the hydraulic mechanics.

I've replaced a few rams and pipe works in my time, not on such a big system but as you say it is more complex, but the principle of seek and find the fault remain the same.

I believe they will have sussed out the issue over the weekend unless it is specialist test equipment they are having to ship in.

Anyway little point in speculation. It will be done when it's done.

Not at all Joe. It is a mechanical failure and that is what I was trained to deal with. Fix it asap and get it back on the road. As you've said yourself. Time is money. You drill it, I'll keep the engine running. Horses for courses bud. Now stop fretting, it's time for those beers.

I'm sure people don't want to be bothered with every item from a schematic being listed but there you go if people want to listen to nonsense its up to them.

Having read jist half of the posts here today, I have to say most of it is the usual speculative BS from people who in the main haven't got a scooby about what they say. Much of the nonsense coming from professional traders who have learned a few phrases to get by using BS to baffle brains.

The fluid pressure is then delivered by hydraulic fluid to cylinders and actuators and hydraulic motors at the required pressure level and volume"

That is it guys and gals the system is loosely based around a pump, a bit of pipework and a few rams. All parts are repairable or replaceable. Availability and time scale is the only thing we need to be concerned about. Everything else is being used to fuel fear.

By the volume of noise its my guess some haven't seen the lows they were expecting hence they are working so hard, but hey ho, I'm relaxed about it and smile at them revealing themselves.

Depends on the cause and availability of parts. It's as simple as that. It is a delay and as said they will still be able get the sampling and tests done once sorted. Frustrating, but speculation serves nobody but those who wish to take your money off you. Read and re read the RNS the facts are there.

Research done with UK pipelayers suggested within 3 months depending on the the terrain being reasonably average.

I've been happy with the comms in general as they have given us what we need to know!

The problem lies with the fact it is not always what we want to know or hear and we probably all want something different to each other, but that raises further issues as people start to speculate as some whip up their own molehill fears into mountains.

Whether deliberate or genuine, it is often this non sensical speculation that causes damage to confidence. The silliness of overreacting can become quite clear when paying closer attention to facts provided.

I often think it is the third read of an RNS before reality of its meaning kicks in.
