What is next ? This could be interesting for holders of physical gold if a digital version is brought in. More manipulation and could see very large swings based on gold price as a reserve currency.
"Former UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond responds to Yahoo Finance's Brian McGleenon about the possibility that the UK's depleted gold reserves could be replenished with 'digital assets'. The Tory peer does not think the UK public is ready for the Bank of England to begin accumulating current digital assets, such as Bitcoin. However, he does forecast that "when we ultimately digitise conventional assets, this is the form in which these things will be held at some point in the future”.
