Aquaesulis01 might actually shore up support for the government in other regions other than Amhara in the same way that it did with the Tigray conflict.

You might even get a reduction of conflict in most of Oromia with Fano and OLA fighting each other in a few areas.

Main rebel demand is likely to be the gift of the regions that are disputed with Tigray, to Amhara which is unlikely to happen. Main problem is Amhara expected the lions share of the spoils when the TPLF was toppled but not worked out that way.

Not good best case it blows over after government get serious worst case Amhara splits away from the rest of Ethiopia, or could just be a long insurgency that people get nearly used to living with.

In all three cases though Ethiopia and Oromia still going to need the revenue from TK.

From the comments in the newspapers think the delay was more down to them upgrading the security plan a bit more rather than the banking. Security is a bit like insurance you have to plan around worst case scenarios. Generally though the Ethiopians seem to still be pushing their mining sector.

Taking from international experience, the actors of the sector should add value to minerals and enter their country. The lack of precious mineral associations in the past years is expected from the sector. It is not possible to say that much income has been earned. To solve the problem in the sector, it has been found necessary to establish an association of precious minerals and jewelry suppliers, manufacturers and exporters.

Ethiopian Honorable Minerals and Jewelry Suppliers, Producers and Exporters Association. Engineer Habtamu Tegegge, other federal and regional officials, international supporting organizations, media professionals and members of the association. As Engineer Habtamu Teggegne said, he is going to add value to the minerals produced in Ethiopia and exchange. They have said that the revenue generated from the sector should be increased by providing markets. The association has expressed that it has a significant role by working meaningfully and following legal procedures to outsource foreign exchange. The minister office will provide the necessary support and cooperation and the actors in the sector should work together to prioritize the interest of the country.

Impossible to compare the two countries gold production really as both have a huge problem with gold being smuggled out. Probably more gold is smuggled out than goes through the books which is a big reason international miners are needed to come in.
