Ethiopian leader vile? Would say he better than most African leaders and was democratically elected in fair elections and got a peace prize. The suffering in Tigray is down to the previous regime starting a war from Tigray to try to recover power. It was not some noble liberation struggle as then they would have stopped when they cleared their region. The lack of accountability is largely down to all the governments involved including the Tigray not wanting it and non of the big powers wanting it either.

If you are looking at a moral case you got to consider will kefi bringing prosperity to the region be a good thing.

As for the currency woes that’s largely down to paying for a very expensive conflict the corruption is no worse than before.

Sure there is corruption in the country. Is that any different from anywhere else? Had people making money out of of the covid epidemic over dodgy medical supply deals and a ex leader trying to hide his phone here while one ex labour prime minister with blood on his hands cosies up to the next and in the States one leader is facing revolving court cases while the other and his son should be.

As for devaluation most of the expensive stuff kefi will need stuff will be bought outside the country if the birr devalues against the pound and dollar kefi funds will stretch further in Ethiopia.

The IMF the west and China will eventually do a deal with Ethiopia over its debt just your going to have the usual political BS going on behind the scenes with Ethiopia trying to not fall out with either party and the West and China playing their cards as normal.

Already intervened in the past and got a poster reinstated on that thread and may do so in the future but the previous thread was made less viable by people just spamming it with personal abuse and zero content posts. Basically posts like yours caused the present situation there. I could set in theory set up my own thread but would mean upgrading and paying for the privilege for putting up with more thrash talk than I do now and would cut into the time I actually research the company and factors around it. Relatedly, it is presented in the forum that the footprint work that Ethiopia is doing is capable of strengthening renewable energy alternatives and making sustainable development a reality.

The reality is Ethiopia is desperate for money from the western dominated IMF and food aid to continue that largely comes from western nations. At the same time China is the largest investor into Ethiopia and is a large creditor. Hence Ethiopia trying to keep onside with both. Things are a bit complicated by the fact that neither China or the west can be as generous as they have been in the past due to economic conditions also complicated by the rivalry between both blocks.

What Ethiopia will have to do is generate more revenue itself and what sector has the most potential to do that the mining sector. To get the most revenue from the mining sector they will have to invite the whole world in and could do with a a big success to attract investment.

Even though TK and Ethiopia is very important to kefi overall TKs success is probably more important to Ethiopia than kefi, as kefi could switch investment to Saudi.
