Speedic: set a stop loss 10% below current level to sell. Then you don’t lose too much profit and can follow it down and buy again when it starts to reverse.
Also I can set a stop loss rationally and not worry, but if I’m watching and trying to work out when to sell I tend to hold too long. Profit is profit is profit.

Darktrace is a LTH for me. Looks like the opportunity to go further.

Agree with that Carliol. As well as being a good LTH, many funds and ETF's track the FTSE250 and will be required to buy Darktrace when it is admitted.
Providing the accounts look sensible later in the year, and there is a plan to move to profitability, I think this share has a great future.

It's all got a bit excitable since US open Mojo. I've got both BP and RDSB and can't complain!
Decided to cull all my slow moving stuff today as well. Bit of housekeeping. They'll probably all gain tomorrow!

Have a look at Artemis. Good range of funds. Currently adding to my holdings in US Select Class I Acc. Very good 5 year performance.

Cherry burn: yep. Started buying last year on the way down. First batch at £3.08 then followed it down to sub 2, and some more on the way back up in Dec 20. With a 2.59 average, divvy yield is a touch over 6%. On top of growth from £2.59, it’s a comfortable Lth and leaves pennies to take a bit more trading risk in some interesting AIM shares!! :-).

rjb....seems you are a long term holder like me and this lets you sleep peacefully at night especially when held in an ISA wrapper. Is 6% yield tax free anything to worry about. ? Naturally one wants a few special situations for fun as well !

Agreed Cherryburn. This is never going to jump massively. It's been a steady upwards trend for months now and will keep going. If you are a LTH like me, just have to be patient and ignore the dips. I'm much happier at 3.10 than I was a few weeks ago!

Since Aug 2020. Started buying at £3.08 on the way down, kept going to lowest buy at £2.03
40K shares @ £2.59 average. Some nice divvies along the way. Not complaining.

Listening to Bloomberg radio as I do every morning for an hour on my way to work, the general view seems to be that the current volatility and negative movements worldwide are closely linked to the US inflation data. As a LTH, I'm just going to sit and ride it out. I can't see how anyone can accurately forecast which way the market will go each day, but the underlying fundamentals for most of my stocks are sound. Just need to be patient and wait for the inflation data to settle down a bit.

Large parts of the the market are red today. BP just going with it. Poor India Covid news? Risks of India variant to vaccine efficacy? Possibly enough to tip the markets negative as a whole?
