SANDUSKY, Ohio, Sept. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Cedar Fair Entertainment Company (FUN), a leader in regional amusement parks, water parks and immersive entertainment, today announced that preliminary results for the five weeks ended Monday, September 3, 2018, represented record revenues for the fiscal month of August.

For the five weeks, preliminary net revenues were $288 million, up 6%, or $17 million, when compared with the same period in 2017. This was the result of a 5%, or 255,000-visit, increase in attendance, a 1%, or $0.52, increase in average in-park per capita spending and a 7%, or $2 million, increase in out-of-park revenues, including resort accommodations.

Premier Technical Services Group PLC’s (PTSG) Fire Solutions division has recently attended a number of sites for the Department for Work and Pensions (DwP) to complete the first tranche of work on a contract to test fire doors.

The DwP has around 700 office locations around the UK, and the safety of staff and visitors at all of these sites is vital. Engineers have already completed the first round of work on this contract, having tested 300 fire doors, with another 3,000 to be tested in the coming months.

Moving up nicely yesterday and today. Heavy buying yesterday, and now we have a first buy today at the full 2830p offer.

Worth noting from Finncap that with forecast $24m net cash at this year end, they foresee another supplemental dividend in the range of 7c-9c per share.

That would equate to a total dividend for the year of 31c-33c, i.e around 25p per share.

I sold out this morning, taking advantage of the bounce.

I believe the market will be extremely disappointed at the lack of a film/franchise tie-up for the next game - this has changed my view on the prospects for the short/medium-term.

As news of this spreads, at worst the share price will sink, and at best imo it will only really consolidate for a while without going anywhere particularly fast. It's likely there'll be plenty of time from here to get back in on anything particularly dramatic.

this is one of my favourite companies, and management teams. It was a pleasure to interview them in Jan 2016, here (audio & transcript). The share price has tripled since then.

So I'm really looking forward to interviewing them again this Friday.

The valuation is far from demanding - a PER of only 13, for a cash-rich company, paying a 5% dividend yield, and reporting a good outlook, looks great value to me.

Somero certainly looks a great value/GARP share. Although we do have to consider the cyclicality. Sales and profits tend to be very cyclical. Its biggest market (the USA) is doing well, after the stimulus from Trump's tax cuts. That should benefit Somero in a lower tax charge, although I note that H1 2018 sees a 22.4% tax charge, up from 20.2% last H1.

Overall then, all looks pretty good to me."

Plans to build up to 775 apartments in the Waterside area of Leicester have been revealed by developer Watkin Jones.

The firm wants to develop a site between All Saints Road and Jarvis Street. Some 500 apartments will be for students, says Watkin Jones.

The site has been home to warehouses in the past, but is now vacant.

Watkin Jones says the number of apartments is “indicative” at the moment, and has lodged a Screening Opinion request with Leicester City Council to try and work out whether the scheme would have any impact on the environment because of it scale and size. It would be between five and 12 storeys high.

Leicester City Council’s planning department will now consult to see if the scheme will have any impact on the city’s environment."

Good to see the price consolidating here - there was decent buying yesterday post-results, so hopefully any seller will soon be out if not already.

To ensure the UK meets its low carbon targets, the government has introduced several policies that are driving renewable growth. The cost of electricity has also increased which has made UK prices higher than in other countries.

Certain Energy Intensive Industries (EIIs), including plastics, steel and mining, are exempt from a significant proportion of environmental subsidies to help them compete with EU counterparts.

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is consulting on widening the eligibility of charging relief for EIIs.

The aim is to discover whether lowering the electricity intensity test, a calculation to determine the percentage of electricity cost against Gross Value Added, would remove competitive distortions in the market.

Changes to qualification are not expected to come into force until 1st April 2020 at the earliest but could add another 1% onto electricity costs for non-exempt users.

Today's EBITDA is 9% above Liberum's forecasts.

They maintain their 1800p price target.

Good to see the excitement for the future and the solid performance of both ED and PC.

Happy to hold for what are likely to be stellar results this year. The outlook is very confident:

Encouraging results, with all metrics up nicely. The dividend is up 100%! Partly due to a rebalancing....

Europe and North America, the two core markets, are thriving. China is flat, but the optimism about its potential remains. And it's interesting that SOM are "particularly pleased with the traction we are gaining in the India market".

New products are selling well, and the high-rise product development is progressing solidly.

In particular, the outlook statement sets things up nicely for H2:

60,000 shares just bought, including some at 81.75p, seem to have cleared the dam nicely.

Forecasts for next year following the acquisition are 15.4c EPS, i.e around 11.8p EPS. Certainly lots of potential upside there from the current 81p share price.
