The Tomax reference suggests rock was harder to drill/vibration issue and timing suggest that was in the initial vertical. They surely must now be well into the lateral sidetrack. Given what was stated predrilled and cost of such its hard to image they would have continued this long unless already found success. Of course we've been fooled before but even more reason to not make that mistake again and wait till all complete and be sure of success before announcement.
Very likely now in sidetrack but the response I got on Tomax is it likely means they had vibration &/or tool fail issue. Check out Tomax AST tech and this would make sense with the 2 weeks ago statement. The fact still going would likely indicate problem solved.
Early info suggested they would not do a side track unless they first hit on the vertical, why would they? However, id expect them to wait till they have all the news, nobody wants a repeat of Joe/Jethro.
