I suspect the reversal was a combination of ex dividend and an article in Motley Fool on the company. Together with the general pull back on the recent high. I have to say it nearly trigger my stop. It will need news to drive it on from the 10 tenders out for 1billion. GL

All factors have to fall in place for it to be a trade not all breakouts are worth trading. I think i missed that out. GL

What you say is correct about confirmation of the breakout. Descending triangle is bearish, but on confirmation of a upward breakout with a stop loss in place can be an good signal and trade. That is what Joncs has said and i agree from my own observation. As i see it what is wrong with searching out the trading pattern and waiting for confirmation and other factors to fall into place and trading it. From All favourable trading opportunities are in the MINORITY thats why you search out, it does not mean that you play every one blindly, which is what you are inferring i think. Playing with Semantics and generalisations is no augument to what has been stated.

Wecome...Everyone has a right to an opinion..... This is Bulkowski's. Until recently, I didn't have a favorite chart pattern because I considered them just buy or sell signals. However, I am beginning to show affection for descending triangles with upward breakouts. I've made a lot of money trading this pattern, certainly more than from trading their ascending triangle brothers. Consider trading this pattern whenever you see it. It is the measure of a good trader that they can develope and evolve their strategy based on their experience. Whilst we all get it wrong now and again. Learning and improving our experience and observation is what makes This a facinating learning experience. Sometimes that require you to even test past strategies as Bulkowski appears to have done in his observation of the descending triangle trading pattern. Interesting info on dividend dates..... These movements i think are expected in the current market. It does still offer a good entry point as there is likely to be more news comming through. The risk with selling is that you sell low, miss the dividend and the correction if comes. If there is news my feeling is that the share will move as previously up quite fast. Good info.... Something i was not aware of.

Some great results..... I have had a very mixed day. Still SHFT held up well after the recent rises.

Sometimes the SP does adjust for the dividend but the will make up the difference. Remember there will be a further expectaion of a dividend and also the expectation of more news on the Tenders. The news flow has been good and any RNS comming up will move the SP up. As JONC says it is sometimes a good thing and expected for the share to settle and move down and sideways for a short will after any news flows. GL

We are influenced by the same guy, Jim Slater. Noticed that one of your selection had Slater investments as a holder. It is a great discipled and rewarding approach. But in the current markets very difficult to find real value. I am looking into TA and momentum indicators which i have used on a number of trades for a while. But my main ISA investments are mainly selected based fairly closely around the fundementals, growth and value. You are right about the number of investors looking for instant gratification without putting in the effort to fully research a business. But there plenty of research suggesting that on a relatively small percentage actually make any meaningful gains. Keep a note ACHL forfills most of the criteria but there was a press article out that seemed to question the figures. Xpp is good solid business but has already gone up a fair bit also market cap is larger, i have been in and out of it over the last couple of years. Bju pretty much the same interesting business though. If i spot any bargains i will try to let you run them over aswell. GN GN

Like SNCL and IDOX. Non ISA cash fully invested at the moment but these two also look interesting. I am a little adverse to higher gearing and high PEG ratings but the two above look interesting. Like to know reasons why. Thanks, appreciate

Hi Chequemate Sounds like we might very similar investment criteria. I hope you dont mind me asking about the 9, i would be interested. Some of the ones i have been following are XPP, ACHL, BJU, IGP amongst a number of others. But this one looks to be the best. Altough i am not invested in all of the above they remain on my watch list. I have started looking at commodities shares and use a different critera which i am trying to develope. The following results should i hope comfirm we are both on the right track. I do at the moment feel as if i am looking for a needle in a haystack. Thanks for the feedback. GL

I have invested as this looks a very promising medium term investment. There are not many of these around with proven track record with such a promising product. The fundementals are great and the business still undervalued in my opinion. GL

I would say. I been drinking for a month and how sweet it is. If you read this enjoy the taste of this little gem. Nothing spectacular except a well run company that keeps producting the goods. Nice divident as well. Margins likely to improve with the new manufacturing moving to uptodate facility in vietnam. Good products and fragmented competition.

it is a disappointing drop. But the business is still cash rich 15p generating profitable turnover taken over another growth business exposed to a large market with a strong currency Has a consistant record of growth over a long period Is trading at a big discount to assets. The business offers a 4.5% dividend and qualifies for ISA The company also has an agreed mandate to purchase its shares and with considerable firepower this would offer support. The story does state that there maybe some questions on the acreage being leased. This does not override the all the above. I am holding, there are never any gaurantees but certainly seems an over reaction, which is unfortunate. GL dont worry too much hang on and see what occurs.

It's one thats been on my watch for quite a while. Just needed it to stabilise a bit after the Chaoda news etc. The management certainly seem to be switched on and the market going forward offers plenty of opportunities for them. Always helps to get a perspective from a holder. GN
