1234567 - I think you made a great point - very simple - why isn’t HUM being valued by the market at average Price to cash flow (or other similar metrix) of other miners? That’s all that most Pi’s want - is the manganent focused enough on its shareholders / owners or more on ego buildIng

FSJ - I think the problem with any Dividend is that there is an expectation that the Dividend will be repeated every year (even though it may be called 'Special') and it would mean committing cash flow each year.) a share buy back is more of a one off (although it may last for a number of months) and the shares could be held in Treasury by the company to sell back at a future date (if they wanted to raise cash) or they could simply cancel the shares - if HUM is as cheap as we all think then a Buy Back is a great investment

No Tom but it’s a close thing in Pounds - the actual realised price in H1 $1307 on average and will be higher than $1225 in H2 (hopefully!!)

Gold in the middle of H1 was $1325 and the £ to Dollar was 1.4 giving £946 The current figures are $1225 and 1.3 giving £942 (all approx) so in £ terms we are relatively unchanged

Bearing in mind Zen’s problems with hitting deadlines (and managing expectations) you would hope that when they quoted 90 days they are really working towards 70 days !!

One way the Directors could help is to get the interims out early (it toook until the end of Sept last year which is bizarre considering they already know Sales Revenue and most of the cost structure) The interims could than give us a guidance on EPS etc coupled with an exciting commentary??

Saying the same things on here relentlessly (stuff we all know) is a completely worthless exercise (and doesn't mean you are extra right because you keep saying it - we all agree about the problems) - I picked up Andrea's business card from a presentation he did - I have his mob. number if you want it??

Anybody know when the interims are out?? A solid set of financial number and a compelling commentary on the development of the business and use of cash (plus maybe a revival in the POG) may act as a catalyst for further investor interest in HUM (then the share price will probably go down!!)

Being realistic - do you think if they hadn't made the $1.5m investment in BH then the share price would be flying?? - I doubt it. In order to get it moving they need to reward the shareholders (buyback of divi - cost probably less than £5m) extend the mine life and (hopefully) see a recovery in gold price. The exact mix of these three things will determine the extent of any increase.

JW - not sure you are correct - why would they go through the AGM resolutions and court process and not follow through - it will only take a fraction of their cash flow to make a difference. They can hold shares bought back in treasury and subsequently sell them back at a later date (and hopefully at a higher price)

Just think what $1.5million could do to the price of HUM if they used it to buy back shares - there is only about 15% of share in free float (approx 50 million) so it could make quite a difference

Kadavul - alot of us feel the same way - how can a slam dunk under valued Company actually keep losing value???
I would hope that the Board will listen to institutional investors (as they don't listen to Pi's) and maybe the institutions will apply the right pressure (particularly as Directors have recently been drumming up institutional interest)

I think USA is an ego trip. HUM have done a great job on the mine build and production which has fuelled the boards confidence that they can spread the magic elsewhere. You can just see them on first class flights to the US to discuss projects etc. Most of us have invested on the basis of HUM being a gold play focused in Africa - the ego trip is not something we signed up for. They really need to align the strategy with shareholders interest which (ultimately) is value creation and therefore a strengthening share price. There are probably only about 15% of shares in free float (management have about 15% and institutions about 70% - so they say) so how about buying a few of the free float either with Company funds or (dare I suggest it) the Directors themselves.

I think I offended him by asking why Directors aren't backing the Company in the same way as many PI's - too bl**dy sensitive - the FD (Half $million a year) could have bought at least a few shares?
