625m shares bought back now at a weighted average cost of £281.5m. Which wipes out all the new shares lloyds issued since March 2020. Obviously lloyds haven't cancelled them yet, looks like they're going to do it in one big go. Still a long way to go for the full £2bn buyback. The last bay back programme was halted in Sept 2019, so once we hit 1,020m shares bought back, it's like continuing from the Sept 2019 buy back. I'm hoping we can get to around 67bn shares in issue, once it's done.
I really feel for the small investors here. I think my mental health wouldn't be in a good place tonight, if i wasnt able to get my £12k out quickly after hearing the RA sanctions this morning. Some of my investors friends got out in time, some didn't manage it. I do wonder if cancelling the div at the last moment (which protected RA), was probably an extra nail in the coffin for the FCA . Last night I heard a directors private jet was sanctioned. I was seriously worried last night that today would be bad.
I can't stop thinking about a few posts. Someone wrote few days back "incoming div £55k" some other person said they had 300k shares, all their pension i guess. OMG. Sure it was risky, but we're only chasing a dream in a firm with solid fundamentals. After deep thought, I don't think the board cared one bit about the little investors, we were just cover (a necessity) for the oligarchs to list their stock. They proved that cancelling the div. It's not looking good, pretty sure now the oligarchs will offer 20p a share or less to take it all. Can't see sanctions being removed, the war is still raging. It really stinks our politicans courted these dodgy Russians and now playing the morality card. We shouldn't have had the opportunity to be trading in a company mainly for the benefit of the oligarchs. My sincere sympathies to all those little people worrying about their savings tonight.
Also since one of the directors is on the poly board (both RNS's this morning both similar). This likely means the poly div has gone too. I wont be topping up unless both seriously tank now. No income, that means remeasuring risk v reward (at cuurent prices which included a div).
Problem is Evraz just sanctioned their own shareholders.
Once an income stock stops one div, they could stop 2 years of divs . Pandoras box has been opened.
Sure the cash balance has increased, the company is stronger. But the reality is, we are no longer an income stock until further notice.
Muppet or not. You don't leave it to 30 seconds before close. Mate of mine said a hospital was hit. I didn't know, I've not been watching the news. If I did watch the news, I wouldnt invest. It's all good, i can understand after that, politics bkah blah. They deserve some backlash leaving it that late. But hey-ho onwards we go. It's all good. I'm over it already. Smiles.
Maest; I do hope it's simply politics. Maybe it wouldn't look right to pay now. I done my maths, put my hard earned money in. Wanted to hold long term. I'm just feeling emotional right now. But I want the firm to succeed. I'll hang in there. Thank you.
Evraz board.
To report in the morning all was well, then cancel the div just before close was brutally unfair.
We're the little people that wouldn't have touched your firm, it it wasn't for the possibility of de-risking some of our investment with the div. You announced your results after the war had started, you know you were riding difficult waters.
What you've done is "evaporate all trust" with one RNS, because you left it to the last minute. Better to pay this div and maybe hold off future divs. You had investors willing to hold up a fste100 company despite the huge risks.
I honestly don't care, if your sp now tanks to 5p. I really wanted to trust you. Not believe that "all Russians were crooks". I wanted to believe that there was honour and professionalism with this firm, an educated board that built trust with thier shareholders. "Good will" holds huge value in the UK, its a matter of culture, you just killed it.
Good luck..... Evraz investor.
I'm not too bothered I'm down on my buy. If the war ends over a weekend, the market will open +£5 up, i'd miss an entry point. It's a waiting game. 60p here, 60p there at these prices is so ridiculous, it's hardly worth worrying about.
This is insane now. Google says 95p
Totally ridiculous.
Wow. Daddy Biden is upset, still love to know what son Hunter Biden's intentions were for Ukraine. I do wonder if it was his job to convince the actor president not to stay "neutral", but attenpt to politically unstabalise the country. Go on join the west... "all in". and they fell for it hook line snd sinker.
Oh well the entire west is at max 'cuddle culture' now, it appears we're prepared to throw away everything. Incoming £5k annual gas bills snd £3 a litre petrol, its all good right. What we're Blackrock doing paying £7 a share recently for another 5% of the firm (doubled down)? Is the USA going tobwreck thier own financial assets rhen? I thought getting in at £1.60 today was a steal haha. Funny stuff, walk away forget it for 6 months, OK then.
Depends if you think the entire world will stop, and no one will buy steel "ever again" until Mr Putin stops playing silly buggers. All you need to do is have s little check of commodity steel prices to make you smile. Good thing with Evraz is they dig up their own raw materials to make the steel. Hence why there's so much money we get paid 4 times a year.
The upcoming dividend is just for the quarter remember. Evraz pay 4 times a year, which is kind of 4 interims. That's why the dividend yield is still over 100%+ at current prices. Ask yourself how many potential 38p dividends do you want to collect. Should cover the high gas bills haha.
It means we will get demoted to the Chanpionship from the Premier league. Then be the best team in the Championship for a few months, until our highly likely promotion back to the Premiership. Basically that's how I explain it to newbies.
The only risk I see in this share is all the Evraz USA steel worker employees buying up all the shares and retiring 20 years early. On the plus side the Russian employees will be paid 135 rubels to the dollar. Although I can sell Evraz paying them " currency crisis topup" to keep them sweet, we don't want strikes. Haha.
Agreed Law; The golden rule for me during a crisis is "No RNS", if they put out RNS's to calm investors it's a sign of weakness. So no RNS regarding say the divs, actually convinced me to keep buying in until I got to my target. I'm sure we will be OK. I'm relaxed.
Hi Law: probably market makers trying to sweep up those that set a stop loss. Add day traders closing out positions before the weekend. The good news is, there was enough demand to go to 90's, with 3 trading days remaining to qualify for the div, shares should be in demand. On fundamentals the firm is rock solid. We all set our own level of risk and appetite. I got enough shares in Evraz for £5k div, it cost me just under £12k (averaging down 9 times) . I would need £376k of lloyds shares at 1.33p final div to get £5k div back. So the reward here is huge for the brave for what i see as low risk involved now. For the little people this is life changing should it pays off. For that reason, I'm holding for at least 2x div anyway. I hope that eases your concerns. I hope to be full de-risked after 3x div payouts. Bargain.
Yeah exactly. Market makers will sweep up stop loses. Anyone putting 20p stop lose on this is nuts. What a game. The dealers will take your shares..... careful lol.
Sticky: got 3 and abit more trading days, of people chasing the 37.5p div. Simple as that. Plus massively undervalued. Enjoy the ride.
Problem with all these firms exiting Russian, is "cuddle culture" will cost them and their shareholders billions. When down the road we will all be friends again in the name of world trade. Its becoming easier by the year to become an investor. Even the boards of fste 100 companies like BP have turned into emotional cry babies. Most Russian businessmen are not villains and dictators. This is a one man issue, Putin. They need to grow some balls and say that.
Yeah because we're fully invested. Mate of mine told me Evraz are supplying all the steel for a Canadian tunnel worth $22bn from it's USA arm. That's just one project. Commodity steel prices surging. Actually I've got another £6k on standby in case of a drop. Other than that I'm well happy with this "british" company.
