When I was reading through everything on Shanta, prior to starting to buy in recently, everything was all looking pretty tidy, good low costs, debt about to be paid off, etc.....but what really made my eyes pop out was when I saw the details of the West Kenya acquisition....resources of 1.18 Moz at 12.6 g/t!

So despite the attempt to make it sound like the world is ending....I'll take margins like that (and their costs are broadly similar to Shanta's forecast ones).

Of course....the gold price realised last year for Shanta was $1495.....and this year who'd like to take their bet on the average unhedged price this year? I'd certainly be pretty surprised if it wasn't nearer $1700 (or considerably above). Also they should be down to $2m of debt next month - so those costs evaporating too...it's all looking so bad :)

On a lighter note....I wonder how many of the rest of you always read his name as Magalufi ;) (as in someone from the Spanish resort).
I mean....I know it's not....but every time I read it - the brain still defaults to that first.

I think of it like this: markets know (or knew) they could make a quick buck from buying everything with a rally on a COVID recovery and doubly-so when fuelled by "stimulus" money washing through the markets. No point worrying about the effects of money printing because the problems will come later from that. So the money went away from gold for the time being - to make a quick buck. Combine that with the fact that with Indian demand being down due to lockdowns and high prices it's a bit of a double whammy. Indian retail buying is now stepping back up apparently and once the "everything rally" peters out on the markets it becomes a game of where do you feel safe with your money in these crazy inflated times...

Gold still trying hard for a breakout to the upside, and it's broken up out of the symmetrical triangle of the past week, but the dollar is rising (annoyingly) so not gaining any traction for further gains (yet).
The dollar is pretty much at a resistance point now so with any luck it'll bounce off it and head south. Europe being in a mess doesn't help with that obviously.

Hopefully they do better than Goldplat which is still at a lower price than when it listed 15 years ago....

I also note in their presentation one of the senior management is Jason Brewer. Red flag for me and wouldn't go near it on that basis.

Particularly as gold has been slowly steadily rising over the past couple of weeks now (despite the dollar not steadily falling over the same period - which makes it all the better).

As I say, I tend to find when you get notification of a big sellers, it's because they've finished, and what happens when selling pressure is removed.....exactly.

Strange as it may seem.....getting this RNS now is a good thing (from my perspective.....simply because large sellers often only notify when they're done.
I mentioned on Twitter I thought there was a seller (obviously hoping they were nearly done).
Might buy a few more on Monday now - would have bought them 5 mins ago but I didn't see this until now ;)

I suppose should clarify that it was technically not the most recent presentation, in case someone goes to look for it(as that was just exploration drilling stuff), but rather the most recent "overall" presentation which was the one before that ;)
