It might not make sense in terms of value/fundamentals but a share price is rarely an accurate reflection of that.
The share price is a product of short term buying/selling!
Sometimes it's not even that and a share price can be moved down to fill large orders or offload big sells!
Over the longer term value will usually decide the range but this is weeks/months/years rather than hours/days.
After all, 31 million quid's worth of this was bought at 16.5p, and they could have sold a lot more, with it being over-subscribed. Those funds/insti's buying millions of pounds worth at that price did so expecting a considerably higher price in the future - and any Shanta/Tanz news in the interim has probably only increased the chances of that.

I've been looking through all the major shareholder updates on the website historically, and any TR-1s ,and the morningstar mess of data and one thing seems clear. It's all a bit of a mess. If the SHG website is correct (which I suspect it is) then Odey should have issued an RNS in the past few months saying they'd reduced.
If you look at the MorningStar data then the only ones with a meaningful amount of shares left on their Sellers list is River And Mercantile and there's a whole raft of funds/institutions on their list of buyers list.
Still not sure about this MorningStar data - it does seem to throw up lots of names you wouldn't otherwise find but again the numbers don't tally with the SHG website figures so who knows how accurate it is.
I think we're essentially seeing a changing of the guard in the background. Buyers won't want to bid up the price too much and pay more - and the sellers won't want to sell too fast and nobble the price they get. So it's just one of those waiting games that could conclude at any moment - the more demand the quicker any seller is cleared - and we've been seeing big blocks go through so the pace will be decent.

I think the penny has already dropped Tony (but for the bigger players who are loading up on what they can get now - and the market makers are swinging this up and down to try to free up as many shares as possible).
After all, why wouldn't they be loading up, when the company will be basically debt free this month, is now making fully unhedged margins, with another asset being lined up for production in the relatively near term, and a potential blockbuster asset (for a company this size) in West Kenya with its bonanza grades, and a load of exploration ongoing across the lot.

It's just like clockwork . Move the price down a touch, a few PIs sell, then a giant trade comes through buying them all up. 636,000 just bought in one go a moment ago.

I notice another big block (250,000) bought at 14p was snuck through after close yesterday. The MMs will be hoping the pullback in gold gets them a few more sells to fill all of these big orders going through in the background.

Just as expected. Pull it back to gather up the 10%ers. Decent buying coming back in tho. Wouldn’t be surprised to see this swiftly into the 14’s (all other things being equal).

Consolidating quite nicely, looking at the trading, with the prices given to sellers now steadily fractionally rising, which is usually an indication they're trying to entice the last of the stale bulls into filling the orders they have without moving the price up much and encouraging more buying.

It's always a good sign Sjm321, as it simply means there's a group of filth who've finally realised this is heading upwards, and are so desperate to buy in they'll waste their time with futile scaremongering with the only contrived negative they can think of.

Trade of 750,000 from 8:52 this morning just come through (at 13.852p). Some bigger fish gobbling away then.

The whole statement was about as good as you could possibly hope for as a foreign investor.
(Which is obviously the point; to stop putting off outside investment - and get companies back in creating more jobs and wealth for the country)

In case anyone wonders what these big pairs of trades are: it's Bed & ISA season.
(this isn't meant to be patronising - it's easy to forget and think things are a couple of big sells/buys - when actually it's just people bunging the shares they think are going to be big winners, in need of tax protection, into an ISA :p)

Gold doing very nicely. Just breached major resistance at 1740 and currently still rising.

Would empty even faster if the odd plonker didn't sell at 12.5p when all the MMs are desperate for stock and now offering to sell it for nearer 13.5p :p

Trade for 200,000 at 12.9475p.....that'll help things along nicely.
Whatever the MMs had left in their coffers after the recent dip will be emptying fast.

Starting to get a bit of traction finally. Still below my buy in price so cheap as chips in my opinion.
