Reason I ask is, from looking at the Institutions tab of: https://www.morningstar.com/stocks/xlon/ths/ownership , it would appear they're the only ones to have significantly reduced in lately, but their totals listed for the various FIL entities seem to have less than the 2.7% from last update.
So was just curious as to the mechanics of how the register is update and whether there's a time lag before reduction from someone like this might show.

Larus - I see. How does the updating of this work in practice? Is it electronic and up to the minute?

Doesn't that rely on them disclosing their holdings to you? (which they don't have to notify you of whilst under 5% as a non-UK company I believe)

I don't know if it's been discussed previously, but I have a feeling this is just suffering from II dumping, which I expect is FIL (Fidelity). Their holdings have gone down significantly over the year (seen similar on other miners they hold too).
Annoying as this is, you can take it as a positive, as it would explain the sluggish price action, and often when a big seller finishes you get a tidy bounce and/or run up in the SP.
Hopefully this is the case here.

If it closes above 114 (very roughly) it's still in the uptrend. If not it'll get dicier.

Tony: yeah I expect it's FIL too, having already got the notification of minor reduction here, I can see evidence of them reducing on other mining stocks too (not just gold). I suspect it's a broader rebalancing of their holdings (as you say, maybe they've joined the insanity and started pumping money into ****coin523).

Now why did I think of VOD when I read this passage of text on Bloomberg ;)

That was my point earlier danielh ;) It's tedious and pointless to worry about 0.1p of a dividend swing up or down, due to exchanges rates, when the share price varies so much on a daily basis! It's just not worth the time talking or worrying about!

Thank you for your masterfully hypocritical post but it doesn't depend on how many shares you own. We all know it's 4.5cents. Nobody is disputing this. The point of the post, which you clearly didn't get, is that predicting whether it'll be 3.81p 3.82p 3.9p or 3.7p is rather pointless in the grand scheme of things. Of course a meteor could hit Britain, and the exchange rate would change massively, however, as I said, the chances are it will be well within a range that leaves the dividend between 3.7p or 3.9p.

With 99% certainty I'd say between 3.9p and 3.7p (as a currency fluctuation much bigger than that is very unlikely) and therefore, for the sake of 0.1p either way, probably not worth mentioning further by anyone ;)
